Common Ground Coffeehouse
Friday, Aug. 11, at 7 p.m. the Common Grounds Coffeehouse presents Will Houlihan of Haunt the House. Weather permitting, the coffeehouse will be on the front porch and lawn. You are also invited to join us at 6:30 p.m. for dinner with the international students. Donations for the musician encouraged.

Special Musical Sabbath Program

Hal Madison Race
Block Island Club to host the 34th Annual Hal Madison Yacht Race on Saturday, Aug. 12. Skippers’ meeting starts at 10 a.m. at the Block Island Club. There is a Night Sky Viewing on Saturday, Aug.12, at 8:30 p.m. at the Hodge Preserve on Corn Neck Road.

Arts & Artisans Festival
The Block Island Arts and Artisans Festival is on Saturday, Aug. 12, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday, Aug. 13, from 12 noon to 4 p.m.; and Monday, Aug. 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Vendors include glass, jewelry, paintings, photography, and much more. Harbor Church.

CROP Walk

Great Toy Boat Race
The annual Great Toy Boat Race will be held on Sunday, Aug. 13, at 9:30 a.m. at the Ocean Ave. Bridge. Tickets are $10. Benefits the Block Island Early Learning Center.

BIMI Lecture Series
Rhode Island’s Tall Ship: the SSV Oliver Hazard Perry – Jessica Wurzbacher, Executive Director on Tuesday, Aug. 15, at 7 p.m. at the BIMI Center. 

Film Showing
The Harbor Church will show the film “I Am Not Your Negro,” based on novelist James Baldwin's notes for his last book about his friends Martin, Medgar, and Malcolm on Tuesday, Aug. 15, at 7:30 p.m. The film features many powerful clips of Baldwin's own take on the civil rights movement and the situation of blacks in the US. Jim Wallis and Elliot Taubman will give a response to the film. All welcome, no charge.

Beane Point Open House

Block Party On The Block

Seeking Shelter
”Seeking Shelter from the Storm,” Daniel Berrigan, William Stringfellow and Block Island, the exhibition is open for viewing during Island Free Library hours. Weekly programming for this exhibition is scheduled for every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Island Free Library. Exhibition runs until Oct. 9.

Sunday School
This season the Harbor Church is offering child care and fun activities during the Sunday morning worship service from 10 to 11 a.m. No charge and no reservation required. Two adults stay with the children, one of them certified in babysitting and first aid.
