Police arrest 2 after gun fired on New London Ferry

The following was reported by The Day on August 24:

New London — Police arrested two men Wednesday night after one of them allegedly fired a gun off the stern of (the New London Ferry) returning from Block Island.

Michael Richard, 53, of Blythewood, S.C., was charged with carrying a firearm while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, carrying a firearm without a permit, unlawful discharge of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment and breach of peace.

Michael McMahon, 55, of Hamden was charged with breach of peace and carrying a firearm while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Police said Cross Sound Ferry personnel reported at 9:14 p.m. that two men, of one whom had a handgun, were involved in shooting a gun off the stern of the ferry.
