“The Reckoning” documentry showing

This documentary film about the creation and ongoing struggles of the International Criminal Court, will be shown at St. Andrew’s Parish Center on Thursday, August 6, at 7 p.m., followed by a discussion led by resident Peter Kinoy, one of the film’s creators.

The 25th annual Harold Madison Race

The St. Andrew Summer Concert Series continues on Wednesday, August 12, with a performance by Christina Lee, singer and keyboardist. The concert starts at 8 p.m. at the St. Andrew’s Parish Center.

Beach vehicle passes on sale

State-required passes to drive on beaches are on sale at the Police Station for $75. The passes from the state Coastal Resources Management Council will be sold on Fridays from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. You must present a valid vehicle registration, proof of insurance and a driver’s license.

Gardeners Luncheon

The Block Island Gardeners will host a luncheon at the Manisses on Thursday, August 13, at 12 p.m. Sigrid Gray, Director of Horticulture at the Battery Botanical, will speak about the “Gardens of Remembrance”. Jim Wallice Speaks at Harbor Baptist Church

Jim Wallice, author, editor of Sojourners magazine, evangelical theologian and commentator on public issues, will be speaking at the Harbor Baptist Church on Sunday, August 16 at 7:30 p.m. His talk, entitled “Changing the Wind: Prophetic Faith in the Obama Era,” is sponsored by Block Islanders for Peace and Justice. All are welcome to attend.
