04/25/09 - The Committee for the Great Salt Pond and Conservation Law Foundation, joined by the town, as well as the Block Island Land Trust and Block Island Conservancy, will host a presentation and fund-raiser on May 2, at the Narragansett Inn, at 4 p.m.

Attorneys Dan Prentiss, Jerry Elmer and Don Packer will provide updates on the status of the Champlin’s Marina expansion matter.

All the organizations filed papers last week in the state Supreme Court to appeal the February 24 ruling by Superior Court Judge Netti Vogel that would allow Champlin’s a 3.08-acre expansion in the Great Salt Pond.

The groups have also taken the unusual step of filing a simultaneous appeal in Superior Court.

Vogel reversed what had been a Coastal Resources Management Council denial of the marina’s expansion application reached in February 2006.
