History Happening Here
*** House & Garden Tour: Cancelled for 2020**
Thank you for your interest in the Block Island Historical Society. We all value everyone who shares our love of this place and its heritage.
Currently, the Town of New Shoreham and the State of Rhode Island are in the stages of a phased re-opening after the Covid-19 shutdown. The Historical Society Board has taken the unprecedented action of furloughing our employees. The museum is always closed in the off-season but we have also closed our offices with no set re-opening date. We have been discussing possibilities at (virtual) board meetings in April and May and hope to have more definitive information available soon.
We look forward to opening our doors but we do not know when that will happen. In the meantime, please visit us at Facebook — we have two separate pages, our “official” page is managed by our staff, the other, a membership page, where we invite folks to share photos and memories of Block Island is handled by volunteers and is currently active. Every effort will be made to answer questions posed on Facebook but please remember our resources are extremely limited at this time.
And, as always, visit our website www.blockislandhistorical.org.
Please consider joining as a member in 2020. Benefits include discounts in The Museum Shop, free admission, family history research assistance and discounts on our tours and programs. Tours are suspended at this time
