Spring 2020 and we find ourselves in a time of uncertainty. Our church had stood through many challenges, adapting a line from an old hymn “through storm surge, wind and fire.” We adapt. This spring we have have to suspend gatherings in our building; however, we remain active, with a virtual presence Sunday mornings as well as YouTube devotionals and Facebook and Instagram postings.

Harbor Church is a warm community of faith which seeks to serve the entire island as followers of Jesus. We are affiliated with American Baptist Churches, but our membership includes persons of many denominations and we welcome visitors from all over to our services. Sunday morning worship is always at 10:00 a.m. year-round, with Adventure Hour available for children during worship. all followed by a coffee hour fellowship. On Friday nights we host the Common Ground Events with food at 6:30 and entertainment 7:00 pm. We anticipate most winter Fridays to be Meal and a Movie.
Harbor Church hosts many community groups in our facilities, including AA meetings, the Rhode Island Blood Bank, the Bridge Club, Vacation Bible School, NAMI-BI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), the Men's Breakfast, the Ecumenical Choir, the Helping Hands food pantry, and the Spring Street Gallery. In addition we sponsor the International Students Center in summer and in winter host the town-run winter Rec Center.
Our pastor, the Rev Peter Preiser arrived in September 2018. Pastor Peter and his wife, Carrie Johnson, an educator and professional musician, live in the church parsonage on the second level of what was once a Victorian hotel, The Adrian. They quickly became a part of our church and Island community.
Harbor Church this year celebrates 255 years of organized existence, but our roots go back over 350 years to the faith of the original settlers of the island.
