Ballard’s Inn aces its test

Ballard's Inn received a straight A report from the state inspections office this past week.
The state came out to inspect Ballard's Inn last Friday, July 17 at 8:30 p.m. and issued the following report: "Establishment was in compliance with all Covid-19 regulations at time of visit."
Owner Steve Filippi said he was on top with what he needed to do long before the summer began. He said he consulted with the state Fire Marshal’s office and implemented ideas that came from the Fire Marshall. Filippi said the inside sushi bar was closed, as well as another bar, to avoid overcrowding. The number of tables on the beach has been vastly reduced.
“The most important thing,” said Filippi, “Is that we have a detailed contact tracing log. That’s the first thing they look at when they come in. We also screen the staff every day that they come in.”
In light of that, Filippi said he wasn’t too anxious when the state showed up. “We’ve done everything we can,” he said.
Filippi said the 2020 season — which was such an unknown just a few months ago — was going well.
“Obviously, it’s not like years past,” said Filippi, “but we’re grateful we’re operating and that we’re open and we wish the best for everyone.”
