Ben Wohlberg exhibits new abstract work
Ben Wohlberg has been exhibiting in New England, New York, and on Block Island for many years. Beginning this Friday, the public is invited to view his newest abstract paintings and sculptures at his studio and throughout his beautiful gardens on Payne Road. The show will be open for four consecutive days – Friday, July 30 through Monday, August 2 from 4 to 7 p.m. each day.
After graduating in 1952 from Art Center School in California, he pursued both representational and abstract painting. In 1953 he went to New York where he worked first as an illustrator and later as a portrait artist.
No matter how busy he was commercially, Wohlberg made time to create abstract paintings and sculpture. Within each of his pieces, he translates and expands the light, color and form of his natural environment to create a powerful quality of suspension in space and time.
Wohlberg’s abstract art is a delight to behold. You will not want to miss the opportunity to see both his artwork and the magical setting in which they are created.
Nearby parking will be provided off of Mohegan Trail – look for the scarecrow and follow the signs.
If you are unable to attend during this four-day event, the show will be open by appointment through Labor Day. Please call (401) 466-2004 or (401) 787-3843 to schedule a visit.
