Ben Wohlberg to open studio and gardens
Ben Wohlberg has been exhibiting in New England, New York, and on Block Island for many years. The public is invited to view his newest abstract paintings and sculptures at his studio and throughout his beautiful gardens at 806 Payne Road. The show will be open Friday, July 29 and Saturday, July 30 from 4 to 7 p.m. each day.
A second showing will be Saturday, August 6 from 4 to 7 p.m.
A glimpse into this artist’s creative process was captured in a video produced by Joe and Trish Wiedenmayer of Block Island. The video, which aired several times on Rhode Island PBS, can be viewed on Ben’s website www.benwohlberg.com. At 95 years young, Wohlberg has become a sort of internet sensation with the video, garnering thousands of hits per month over the past year.
Excerpts from a few “fans”:
Andrew A. - Florida Thank you for inspiring me! We are kindred spirits, … I appreciate your investigation of color and form. I respect the confidence and care you bring to your art.
Mike R. - Florida I am so happy to have come across your work and your approach to abstract art. I think you have changed my life.
Robin R. - UK Greetings from a windy but fine NW coast of England. I have just watched a YouTube video where you explain your work and objectively discuss the use of paint and color. As a screen print artist of some 14 years, I am always learning and trying to move with my prints. The journey continues…thank you for the inspiration.
Wohlberg’s abstract art is a delight to behold. You will not want to miss the opportunity to see both his art and the magical setting in which he creates.
Nearby parking will be provided off of Mohegan Trail - look for the scarecrow and follow the signs to walk from the parking area to his studio.
The show will be open by appointment through Labor Day. Please call (401) 787- 3843 to schedule a visit.
