On Sunday, April 24, from 1 to 5 p.m., Block Island Ghost Tours will be hosting an open house on the second floor of the Odd Fellows Hall. “This is our second year in business. Last year we had a little desk at The Harborside Hotel and this year we have expanded greatly. We have bigger spaces, different events, new experiences,” Holly Herdman, co-owner of Block Island Ghost Tours, said. “This open house is a way to reach out to the community, local business owners, and locals in general, to show what we are offering this year.” The new space will be mostly ready along with
new merchandise and retail offerings.
There will be multiple activities to take part in throughout the day. Roxanna Jasparro, a psychic medium, will be giving free 10-minute hand readings from 2 to 4 p.m. Jasparro is the business owner of Bewitched of Scituate and owner of Crafty Witches Inc. Along with being a psychic medium, she is a pet psychic medium, Reiki master teacher, and an artist. Her personal blog is available on her website, bewtichedofscituate.com, named, “Witch
News,” where readers can follow her events, new products, and travels. Jassparao is the creator and teacher of The Society of Bewitched. “It’s my passion and calling to teach about the unknown and all things “Witch” related through collective thought and bringing light to the understanding of who a ‘witch’ is and how a witch was viewed in history through historical facts and open discussion.”
Rick Lysik, co-owner of Block Island Ghost Tours, will be hosting ghost box sessions throughout the day. A ghost box, a tool used during summer tours, is used to pick up spiritual activity and communicate with spirits. Odd Fellows Hall is believed to be haunted and the ghost box has yet to
be used there, so guests at the open house will be the first to experience it. Rob Martin, a.k.a. “Magic Rob”, will also be presenting his magic show, “An Evening With Magic.”
The event is first-come, first-served, doors are open from 1 to 5 p.m. and guests can come and go as they please. Odd Fellows Cafe will supply cake, pastries, muffins, and more. Appetizers will be provided by McAloon’s Restaurant, along with refreshments.
Events and tours start Memorial Day weekend and will include the Ghost Ride Island Tour, New Harbor Walking Tour, Old Harbor Walking Tour, Spirits with Spirits, An Evening with Magic, Ocean Full Moon Reiki, Sound Healing, and Guided Meditation, private readings and sessions with Jasparro, and more.
