Common Ground Coffeehouse Friday, May 20, at 7 p.m. will feature folk singer-songwriter Allysen Callery. A complimentary supper will be served at 6:30 p.m. Donations for the musician are encouraged.

Boys JV plays PCD on Friday, May 20, at 12:30 p.m. Girls Varsity plays Ponagansett on Saturday, May 21, at 10:30 a.m. Boys JV plays San Miguel on Tuesday, May 24, at 12:30 p.m. Boys varsity plays Grove on Friday, May 27, at 12:30 p.m. Girls JV plays Wickford on Saturday, June 4, at 10:45 p.m. All games are played at Heinz Field.

New Community Center Presentation
On May 24, at 7 p.m., Boston architect Jan Wampler and three students from the Mass College of Art will be presenting their preliminary designs for a new community center at the Block Island School. The presentation will feature a slide show, models and drawings. 

Taize Prayer Service
Taize Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday, May 25, at 7 p.m. at St. Ann's By-The-Sea.

Child Outreach Screening
It’s time to make an appointment for your three to five year old’s free, annual developmental screening in vision, hearing, speech/language, social/emotional, and general development. Thursday, May 26, at the Community Center. Historical Society Open House
The Historical Society Open House is on Saturday, May 28, from 4 to 6 p.m. There will be refreshments and all are welcome. There is also a yard/porch sale on the same day from 1 to 3 p.m. "Not quite Historic enough" collectibles & non - Block Island antiques donated to support the Society. All proceeds will support our 2016 intern/educational programs. Stop by & purchase a treasure!

Bake, Book, & Bloom Sale
The Bake, Book, & Bloom Sale will be held on Saturday, May 28, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Island Free Library. Delicious baked goods, awesome books, glorious blooms of every sort from Clark Farms. Goose and Garden is offering 10% of vegetable and annual plant sales on May 27 and 28, to the Library. Mention the Library when you make your purchase.

Gallery Opening
Annual Memorial Day weekend open house at Jessie Edwards Studio from May 28 to May 30. There will be new work, lemonade, and cupcakes to celebrate thier 20 year anniversary.

Chowder Cookoff
The Block Island Maritime Institute is having thier annual Chowder Cookoff on Sunday, May 29, from 3 to 5 p.m. DJ Libre will be entertaining. $15 for adults, $25 for familes, and children under 12 are free.

Spring Piano Recital
Presented by the students of Carrie Todd on Wednesday, June 1, at 7 p.m. at St. Andrew Parish Center. The public is invited to attend to hear our island children play their favorite songs.

Blood Drive
There will be a blood drive on Friday, June 3, from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Harbor Church. You must be at least 16 years old to donate.

Free Lyme Disease Testing
There will be free Lyme and Babesiosis testing at the medical center on Saturday, June 4, from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. All residents age 18 & older are welcome to
attend.

Tai Chi Class

Motorcycle Safety Course
The Motor Cycle Safety Class is scheduled for June 11, and June 12. The cost is $150.00 per person. Registration forms are available on line at www.new-shoreham.com. in recreation department.  Forms are also available in the Recreation office. Registration deadline is May 31.
