Common Ground Coffeehouse
Common Ground Coffeehouse will be closed on Friday, June 17, in support of the Block Island Music Fest.

Summer Sport Leagues
The Block Island Recreation Department summer leagues are co-ed softball, beach volleyball, adult basketball, and adult soccer. For times and locations visit www.new-shoreham.com and go to Departments and Services or call  466-3223.

Farmers’ Market 
Block Island Farmers’ Market runs every Wednesday and Saturday all season. The Wednesday market is on the Spring House Lawn and the Saturday market is at Legion Park. Both are from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

Music Festival
The Block Island Music Festival runs from June 14 to 19, at Captain Nick’s. There is live music with different bands playing every hour from 5 p.m. to closing. This is a free festival.

Sailing Season Kickoff Event
Come to the kickoff event of the Block Island 2016 Sailing Season. Island Sailing Program Managers from the Block Island Yacht Club, the Block Island Club, Thursday Night Sailing, the Block Island Ensign Class Fleet 82, and our Thursday Night Sailing Volunteer Race Committee will be on hand to describe their programs and events, and welcome your participation. Anyone interested in learning to sail or participating in competitive sail racing on Block Island this summer is invited. Saturday, June 18, from 5 - 7 p.m. at the National Hotel.

Welcome Back Luncheon
The Block Island Community is invited to attend a Welcome Back Luncheon for Fr. Dan and Meg Barker on Sunday, June 19, at Noon under the tent at St. Ann's by-the-Sea on Spring Street. Also this Sunday the St. Ann's services will be at 10 a.m.  instead of 9 a.m. Call 466-2911 for more information.

Horseshoe Crab Surveys
The Ocean View Foundation is having Horseshoe Crab Surveys at Andy’s Way on Saturday, June 18, at 7 a.m. and 7p.m. On Monday, June 20, at 8 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. On Wednesday, June 22, at 10 p.m. Call 401-595-7055 for more information.

Social Security Help
The Social Security Administration will be at the Block Island Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, June 23, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. They will be here to help answer any Social Security questions and to help foreign workers fill out forms.

PPP ‘90s Night Fundraiser
All ‘90s all night, Friday, June 17, at 10 p.m. with DJ Libre. A night to raise funds for our good friend and employee Julia, who, after an accident this spring, is now paralyzed from the waist down. We will be donating 10 percent of the nights’ sales to help with Julia’s medical bills.

Spring Plant Swap
Join the Block Island Gardeners for the annual Spring Plant Swap at the home of Maude and Ray Chasse, off Spring Street, to be held Saturday, June 18, from 10:30 to 12 noon, rain or shine.  All are welcome! Parkinson’s Disease Discussion
Mary Ellen Thibodeau, Nurse Coordinator for the American Parkinson’s Disease Association, will talk about the many symptoms and types of the disease. Monday, June 20, at 1 p.m. at the Community Center.

Ponds & Their Amazing Creatures

Block Island's Biggest Yard Sale
American Legion Auxiliary Yard Sale is on Friday, June 24, and Saturday, June 25, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the  Corner of Connecticut Ave. and Ocean Ave. Benefit to support the Vets. Donations can be made morning of the sale. For early donations or help with large items, call Rheba McKernan at 466-5920.

Taize Prayer Service
Taize Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday, June 22, at 7 p.m. at St. Ann’s By-The-Sea.

American Legion Meeting
Merrill Slate Post 36 of the American Legion on Block Island will have its monthly meeting on Thursday, June 23, at 5:15 p.m. at Legion Hall on West Side Rd. All visiting military and veterans are invited to join us.

Deepwater Wind Open House
Deepwater Wind is having an open house Friday, June 24, at 5 p.m. at Club Soda.

Gallery Openings 
There is a gallery opening on Saturday, June 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Spring Street Gallery featuring paintings by Susan Coffin. There is also a gallery opening on Saturday, June 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Jessie Edwards Studio featuring paintings by Fred Poisson.

Historical Society Open Exhibit
Block Island Historical Society Opening Exhibit is on Saturday, June 25, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Night Sky Viewing with the Ocean View Foundation
There will be a night sky viewing on Saturday, June 25, at 9 p.m. at the Hodge Preserve. Bring insect repellant, blanket and/or beach chair for your comfort. Program will be the following night if the sky conditions are poor.

Not New Boutique
The Not New Boutique will be open on Wednesdays in July and August from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Andrew Parish Center.

Bereaved Parents Group
The Bereaved Parents Group will be meeting on Sunday, July 3, at 5 p.m. at St. Ann's By-The-Sea.

Independence Day Events
The Committee for the Great Salt Pond Fireworks Picnic is on July 3, at 6:30 p.m. at the BIMI Center. The fireworks are being held on July 3, at dusk( around 9 p.m.) at the Town Beach Pavilion. The Parade begins at 11 a.m. on July 4, at Legion Park and ends on Water St. The Annual Steak Fry starts on July 4, at 12:30 p.m. at the BIVFD at the Fire Barn. 

Toe Jam Puppet Band
The Toe Jam Puppet Band will be preforming on July 5, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Island Free Library.
