Common Ground Coffeehouse
Island chanteuse Virginia Dare will present a concert of folk songs, standards, and humor at Common Ground Coffeehouse at Harbor Church on Friday, June 24, at 7 p.m. A complimentary Thanksgiving dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Donations for the musician are encouraged.

Summer Sport Leagues
The Block Island Recreation Department summer leagues are co-ed softball, beach volleyball, adult basketball, and adult soccer. For times and locations visit www.new-shoreham.com and go to Departments and Services or call  466-3223.

Holy Door
Make a pilgrimage right here on Block Island at the Holy Door at the Chapel St. Church. Receive all the indulgences by simply passing through the door with the intent to be merciful as the Father is merciful: love instead of hate; forgivness instead of of vengence; mercy instead of neglect.

Farmers’ Market
Block Island Farmers’ Market runs every Wednesday and Saturday all season. The Wednesday market is on the Spring House Lawn and the Saturday market is at Legion Park. Both are from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

Movie Night

Taize Prayer Service
Taize Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday, June 22, at 7 p.m. at St. Ann’s By-The-Sea.

American Legion Meeting
Merrill Slate Post 36 of the American Legion on Block Island will have its monthly meeting on Thursday, June 23, at 5:15 p.m. at Legion Hall on West Side Rd. All visiting military and veterans are invited to join us.

Deepwater Wind Open House
Deepwater Wind is having an open house Friday, June 24, at 5 p.m. at Club Soda.

Block Island's Biggest Yard Sale
American Legion Auxiliary Yard Sale is on Friday, June 24, and Saturday, June 25, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the corner of Connecticut and Ocean Avenues. Benefit to support the Vets. Donations can be made morning of the sale. For early donations or help with large items, call Rheba McKernan at 466-5920.

Night Sky Viewing with the Ocean View Foundation
There will be a night sky viewing on Saturday, June 25, at 9 p.m. at the Hodge Preserve. Bring insect repellant, blanket and/or beach chair for your comfort. Program will be the following night if the sky conditions are poor.

Gallery Openings
There is a gallery opening on Saturday, June 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Spring Street Gallery featuring paintings by Susan Coffin. There is a gallery opening on Saturday, June 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Jessie Edwards Studio featuring paintings by Fred Poisson. There is a gallery opening on Saturday, July 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Spring Street Gallery featuring paintings by Ted Merrit and photography by Lisa Sprague.

Block Island Historical Society Opening Exhibit is on Saturday, June 25, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Not New Boutique
The Not New Boutique will be open on Saturday, June 25, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and then on Wednesdays in July and August from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Andrew Parish Center.

Health Services Annual Meeting
The Block Island Health Services board and members would like to invite the public to thier annual meeting, Monday, June 27, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Block Island School. There will be a tour of the medical center after the meeting.

Bereaved Parents Group
The Bereaved Parents Group will be meeting on Sunday, July 3, at 5 p.m. at St. Ann's By-The-Sea.

Independence Day Events
The Committee for the Great Salt Pond Fireworks Picnic is on July 3, at 6:30 p.m. at the BIMI Center. There is a concert at the Town Beach Pavilion on July 3, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. followed by the the fireworks display. The Parade begins at 11 a.m. on July 4, at Legion Park and ends on Water St. The Annual Steak Fry starts on July 4, at 12:30 p.m. at the BIVFD Fire Barn.

Toe Jam Puppet Band
The Toe Jam Puppet Band will be preforming on July 5, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Island Free Library.

BIMI Lecture Series
On Tuesday, July 5, Peter August, Professor of Natural Resources Science, URI, will be speaking at the BIMI Center at 7 p.m. The topic is The natural history of bats in RI: focus on white-nose syndrome. Beverages and discussion will follow the lecture.

Blues On The Block
The first Blues on the Block is on Wednesday, July 6, at 6 p.m. at Fred Benson Town Beach.

Arts & Crafts Guild Fair
The first Arts and Crafts Fair is on Sunday, July 10, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the lawn of the Historical Society.

Wedding Show
The Block Island Wedding Show is on Sunday, July 10, at the Sullivan House from 12 to 3 p.m.
