Common Ground Coffeehouse
Singer-songwriter David Frye will perform at Common Ground Coffeehouse at Harbor Church on Friday, July 1, at 7 p.m. His singing and guitar-playing are intense and personal and he is working on a new CD. A complimentary chili dog supper with other goodies will be available at 6:30 p.m. Donations for the musician will be encouraged.
Summer Sport Leagues

Block Island Farmers’ Market runs every Wednesday and Saturday all season. The Wednesday market is on the Spring House lawn and the Saturday market is at Legion Park. Both are from 9 to 11:30 a.m.
Not New Boutique
The Not New Boutique will be open on Wednesdays in July and August from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Andrew Parish Center.
There is a gallery opening on Saturday, July 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Spring Street Gallery featuring paintings by Ted Merrit and photography by Lisa Sprague. Bereaved Parents Group
The Bereaved Parents Group will be meeting on Sunday, July 3, at 5 p.m. at St. Ann’s By-The-Sea.
Independence Day Events
The Committee for the Great Salt Pond Fireworks Picnic is on July 3, at 6:30 p.m. at the BIMI Center. There is a concert at the Town Beach Pavilion on July 3, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. followed by the the fireworks display at dusk. The Parade begins at 11 a.m. on July 4, at Legion Park and ends on Water St. The Annual BIVFD Steak Fry starts on July 4, at 12 noon at the Fire Barn.
Toe Jam Puppet Band
The Toe Jam Puppet Band will be performing on Tuesday, July 5, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Island Free Library.
BIMI Lecture Series
On Tuesday, July 5, Peter August, Professor of Natural Resources Science, URI, will be speaking at the BIMI Center at 7 p.m. The topic is The natural history of bats in RI: focus on white-nose syndrome. Beverages and discussion will follow the lecture.
Blues On The Block
The first Blues on the Block is on Wednesday, July 6, at 6 p.m. at Fred Benson Town Beach.
Sonic Sea Film Showing
Sonic Sea is about protecting life in our waters from the destructive effects of oceanic noise pollution. The film is showing on Thursday July 7, at 7 p.m. at the Island Free Library. Free and open to the public.
Arts & Crafts Guild Fair
The first Arts and Crafts Fair is on Sunday, July 10, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the lawn of the Historical Society.
The Block Island Wedding Show is on Sunday, July 10, at the Sullivan House from 12 to 3 p.m.
Lions Club Golf Tournament
Block Island Lions summer golf tournament on Monday, July 11, at Richmond Country Club at 10 a.m. Fee is $100.00 per player for boat tickets, golf, and lunch. For more information contact Gary Delaney at 401-742-1516.

BIMI Lecture Series
On Tuesday, July 12, Andrew Wilson, Professor of Strategy and Policy, U.S. Naval War College, will be speaking at the BIMI Center at 7 p.m. The topic is The Treasure Fleets of the Great Ming: Fact and Fiction.
Salt Marsh Creatures

Full Moon Cruise
There will be a Full Moon Cruise to celebrate conservation and the 25th anniversary of the Nature Conservancy's Block Island office. A sunset and full-moon rise cruise around the island from 6:30 to 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19. Adults $25 and Children under 12 free. Meet at the Old Harbor ferry dock.
