Common Ground Coffeehouse
A quartet of accomplished female singers from New York who perform under the name “Take 4” will present a concert called “Sun, Sand, & Music” at Common Ground Coffeehouse on Friday, July 8, at 7 p.m. The concert will take place in the Harbor Church sanctuary, but a complimentary supper will be offered at 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall (the normal coffeehouse space). Donations for the musicians are encouraged.

Summer Sport Leagues

Movie Night

Farmers’ Market
Block Island Farmers’ Market runs every Wednesday and Saturday all season. The Wednesday market is on the Spring House lawn and the Saturday market is at Legion Park. Both are from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

Not New Boutique
The Not New Boutique will be open on Wednesdays in July and August from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Andrew Parish Center.

Gallery Openings
There is a gallery opening on Thursday, July 14, at the Spring Street Gallery from 5 to 7 p.m. featuring photography by Alice Jacob. There is a gallery opening on Saturday, July 16, at Jessie Edwards Studio from 5 to 7 p.m. featuring paintings by Whitney Knapp Bowditch. There is a gallery opening on Saturday, July 16, at the Spring Street Gallery from 5 to 7 p.m. featuring photography by Robin Bell and photography by Tom Kalb.

Arts & Crafts Guild Fair
The first Arts and Crafts Fair is on Sunday, July 10, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the lawn of the Historical Society.

Wedding Show
The Block Island Wedding Show is on Sunday, July 10, at The Sullivan House from 12 to 3 p.m.

Lions Club Golf Tournament
Block Island Lions summer golf tournament is on Monday, July 11, at Richmond Country Club at 10 a.m. Fee is $100.00 per player for boat tickets, golf, and lunch. For more information contact Gary Delaney at (401) 742-1516.

Lyme Disease Talk
Eco-epidemiology of Lyme Disease and Babesiosis on Block Island: a talk by Dr. Maria Diuk-Wasser (Columbia University) about her 5+ years of research on Block Island about ticks and tick-born diseases. On Monday, July 11, at 6 p.m. at the Island Free Library.

Bingo
Bingo at the BIVFD Fire Barn is being held on Tuesday, July 12, at 6:30 p.m.

Cemetery Tour
On Monday, July 11, at 6:30 p.m. Meet at the Island Cemetery entrance, across from Ball O’ Brien Park. Tickets include free admission into the museum and are $10 a person, $5 for children and members. For more information call the Block Island Historical Society at (401) 466-2481.

BIMI Lecture Series
On Tuesday, July 12, Andrew Wilson, Professor of Strategy and Policy, U.S. Naval War College, will be speaking at the BIMI Center at 7 p.m. The topic is “The Treasure Fleets of the Great Ming: Fact and Fiction.”

Ocean View Film
The Ocean View Foundation Green Screening film: The Yes Men are Revolting is showing on Thursday, July 14, at 7 p.m. at the Island Free Library.

Salt Marsh Creatures
Seine and observe unique salt marsh animals. Everyone gets to let a fish go! Saturday, July 16, at 9 a.m. Meet at Andy's Way. Sponsored by the James Stover Block Island Exploration Series.

Full Moon Cruise
There will be a Full Moon Cruise to celebrate conservation and the 25th anniversary of The Nature Conservancy's Block Island office. A sunset and full-moon rise cruise around the island from 6:30 to 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19. Adults $25 and children under 12 are free. Meet at the Old Harbor ferry dock.

Evening of Improv
Stand-up comedian and author Matt Bellace is hosting an improv and stand-up comedy workshop. Learn how to tell a good joke or story in front of others. Seventh grade and up. Wednesday, July 20, Fred Benson Beach Pavilion, 8:30 p.m. Free.

Blues On The Block
Blues on the Block will be on Wednesday, July 20, at 6 p.m. at the Town Beach Pavilion. The band that will be playing is Four Barrel Billy presented by the Block Island Residents Association.
