Old Harbor Walking Tours
Join the Block Island Historical Society for a walking tour of Old Harbor. Meet at Rebecca’s Statue, 10 a.m., Thursdays all summer. Tickets are $10 and are available at the Historical Society Musuem in advance or the day of the event.

Movie Night
The Spring House is hosting Family Movie Night, every Monday night at dusk (8:30 p.m.) from now through Sept. 5. See our calendar at www.blockislandtimes.com for movie schedule.

Farmers’ Market
Block Island Farmers’ Market runs every Wednesday and Saturday all season. The Wednesday market is on The Spring House lawn and the Saturday market is at Legion Park. Both are from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

Art Night At The Museum
Every Thursday all summer from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Block Island Historical Society. This event is free.

Not New Boutique
The Not New Boutique will be open on Wednesdays in July and August from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Andrew Parish Center.

There is a gallery opening on Friday, July 22, at the Island Free Library from 5 to 7 p.m. featuring paintings by Marilyn Bogdanffy. There is a gallery opening Saturday, July 23, at 806 Payne Rd. from 4 to 7 p.m. featuring paintings by Ben Wohlberg. There is a gallery opening on Saturday, July 23, at the Jessie Edwards Studio from 5 to 7 p.m. featuring paintings by Peter Michael Gish. There is a gallery opening on Thursday, July 28, at the Spring Street Gallery from 5 to 7 p.m. featuring paintings by Jane Emsbo.

Harbor Church Fair & Auction
From 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 23. Jazz Brunch with Cameron Greenlee at the keyboard until 10:30 a.m. when the Live Auction begins.  Plus, Silent Auction, Mystery Balloon Prizes, "Tony’s Tag Sale” — tickets for this year’s quilt raffle, and more!  On the lawn of the church. Come for food and music, good deals, and great fellowship.

Barbershop Quartet Festival
The Barbershop Quartet Festival is on Saturday, July 23, at 8 p.m. at St. Andrew Church on Chapel St. There will be four men and women quartets and a Barbershop Chorus. Tickets are $20 and are available at the Red Bird Package Store and Island Bound Bookstore.

Arts & Crafts Guild Fair
There is an Arts and Crafts Guild Fair on Sunday, July 24, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the lawn of the Historical Society.

Mystery Walk  
Ocean View Foundation presents a Mystery Walk on Sunday, July 24, at 9 a.m. Call  401-595-7055 to sign up and for information.

American Legion Family Picnic
Merrill Slate Post 36 Block Island is having its annual Family Picnic on Sunday, July 24, from noon to 3 p.m. at Legion Park on West Side Rd. Great food, entertainment, and  all you can eat. $12 per person and kids eat free. All active military are free.

B.I. Gardeners Annual Meeting
The B.I. Gardeners will host its annual meeting on Tuesday, July 26, at 3 p.m. at St. Andrew Parish Center.  The guest speaker is Dr. Rebecca Brown, Asst. Professor of Plant Sciences and Entolmology at URI, who will present “Improving productivity through building soil health and extending the gardening season.”  All are welcome.  Refreshments will be served.

Bingo at the Block Island Volunteer Fire Department’s Fire Barn is on Tuesday, July 26, at 6:30 p.m.

Ask The Archaeologist
Spend an hour with Archaeologist Kevin McBride on July 26, at 4:30 p.m. at the Block Island Historical Society.

BIMI Lecture Series
On Tuesday, July 26, Kevin McBride, Associate Professor, University of Connecticut, Director of Research, Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center, will be speaking at the BIMI Center at 7 p.m. The topic is “New Perspectives on the Native American Archaeology and Archaeology of Block Island.”

Taize Prayer Service
Taize Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday, July 27, at 7 p.m. at St. Ann's By-The-Sea.

Health Services Talk
Block Island Health Services is sponsoring a talk, "Building and Investing in Health Services. The Next 25 Years” on Friday, July 29, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., BIMI Center.

Night Sky Viewing
There is a night Sky Viewing on Friday, July 29, at 9 p.m. at the Hodge Preserve. Bring insect repellent, blanket and/or beach chair for your comfort. Program will be the following night if sky conditions are poor.

Vacation Bible School
Harbor Church invites children ages four to eleven to go on a Cave Quest at Vacation Bible School on August 1 to 5, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. There is no charge and supper is served. Island visitors and all faiths welcome.

BIMI Lecture Series
On Tuesday, August 2, Bruce Parker, Visiting Professor at the Center for Maritime Systems, Stevens Institute of Technology; former Chief Scientist of the National Ocean Service in NOAA, and former Dircector of the World Data Center for Oceanography, will be speaking at the BIMI Center at 7 p.m. The Topic is "The Power of the Sea: Tsunamis, Storm Surges, Rogue Waves, and Our Quest to Predict Disasters."

Blues On The Block
Wednesday, August 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fred Benson Town Beach. The band performing is the Truck Stop Troubadours. Bring your beach chair or blanket and enjoy great music on the beach Sponsored by Deep Water Wind.

Triathlon
This race begins with a quarter mile open water ocean swim. Followed by 12 miles of biking over rolling hills with breathtaking views of the island. The last stretch is a 4 mile run on beautiful Cresent Beach. Saturday, August 6,  at

Block Island Art Festival
More than 20 artisans will be exhibiting Saturday August 6, from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Sunday August 7, from 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.  at the annual Block Island Art Festival on the lawn of the Harbor Church. Paintings, jewelry, glass, home goods, and photography. Free and open to the public.

Mary D. Ball
The annual Mary D. Ball is being held on Saturday, August 6, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Sullivan House.

Medical Center Fun Run
Sunday, August 7, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at Fred Benson Town Beach. The Race starts at 9:30 a.m. Register at www.active.com. This race benefits the Block island Medical Center.

Bereaved Parents Group
The Bereaved Parents Group will be meeting on Sunday, August 7, at 5 p.m. at St. Ann's By-The-Sea.
