Night Sky Viewing
There is a night Sky Viewing on Friday, Aug. 5, at 9 p.m. at the Hodge Preserve. Program will be the following night if sky conditions are poor.
This race begins with a quarter mile open water ocean swim. Followed by 12 miles of biking over rolling hills with breathtaking views of the island. The last stretch is a 4 mile run on beautiful Cresent Beach. Saturday, August 6, at Fred Benson Town Beach. August 6, at 9:00 a.m. at the Town Beach Pavilion. Block Island Art & Artisan Festival
More than 20 artisans will be exhibiting Saturday, August 6, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, August 7, from 12 noon to 5 p.m. at the annual Block Island Art Festival on the lawn of the Harbor Church. Paintings, jewelry, glass, home goods, and photography. Free and open to the public.

Free Health Screening will be provided by Clinica Esperanza/Hope Clinic of Providence at Harbor Church on Monday, August 8, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Physicians and nurses will offer blood pressure checks, glucose checks, women's health info, and nutrition education.

The Kings of the Block 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament is on Monday, August 8, at Ball O'Brien Park. Registration starts at 1 p.m. Benefits the Block Island Volunteer Fire And Rescue Departments.

Thusday, August 11, a tour bus will be making stops in town, at the Historical Society, and the airport on a continuous loop between 6 and 8 p.m. to see all of the galleries participating in the Art Trail Night. Meet at the parking lot in front of the Harbor Church at 6 p.m.

The Mac & Friends Benefit Hawaiian Luau is on August 12, and is being held at the Block Island Maritime Institute from 6 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $80. for adults, $20. for children 12 and under and are available at Lila Delman, Offshore Properties, Kimberly’s and the Poor People’s Pub. Mac & Friens Benefit Art Auction & Chihuly Raffle is on August 13, at the Block Island Maritime Institute from 5 to 7:15 p.m. The Art Auction will feature artists from a wide range of disciplines, from painters and sculptors to jewelers and ceramicists to photographers and designers.

There is a pre-party for conserfest being held at the Old Island Pub on Friday, August 13, at 9 p.m. Conserfest is on Saturday, August 14, at the Town Beach Pavilion all around 1 p.m. There will be multiple bands preforming throughout the afternoon. Annual Hal Madison Race
The Hal Madison Race is on Saturday, August 13. There will be a skippers' meeting at the Block Island Club at 10 a.m. The first gun will be at 1 p.m. outside the entrance to the Great Salt Pond. There will be an awards party held after the racing at the Block Island Club at 6 p.m.
CROP Hunger Walk
