Common Ground Coffeehouse
Common Ground Coffeehouse presents Delta blues slide guitarist Robert Hill, a member of the NY Blues Hall of Fame, performing with his daughter Paulina on Friday, Aug. 12, at 7 p.m. A complimentary supper available at 6:30 p.m. Weather permitting the show will be in the back yard of Harbor Church.

Art Night At The Museum
Every Thursday all summer from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Block Island Historical Society. This event is free.

Not New Boutique
The Not New Boutique, located in the building in back of the Parish Center, on Spring St., is open every Wednesday through Aug. from 9a.m. to 3 p.m. Donations are still being accepted! Please place clean/gently used clothing in the bin by the side of the Parish Center. The Not New Boutique is run by the ladies of the Saint Andrew’s Catholic Ladies Guild.

Farmers’ Market
Block Island Farmers’ Market runs every Wednesday and Saturday all season. The Wednesday market is on The Spring House lawn and the Saturday market is at Legion Park. Both are from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

Gallery Openings
There is a gallery opening on Thursday, Aug. 18, at the Spring Street Gallery from 5 to 7 p.m. featuring photography by Tracey Dillon and Anna Edwards. There is gallery opening on Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Spring Street Gallery from 5 to 7 p.m. featuring paintings by Jerry Powers. There is a gallery opening on Saturday, Aug. 20, at Jessie Edwards Studio from 5 to 7 p.m. featuring paintings by Gerard Blouin.

Mac & Friends Events
The Mac & Friends Benefit Hawaiian Luau is on Friday, Aug. 12, and is being held at the BIMI Center from 6 to 9 p.m. Mac & Friens Benefit Art Auction & Chihuly Raffle is on August 13, at the BIMI Center from 5 to 7:15 p.m.

There is a pre-party for conserfest being held at the Old Island Pub on Friday night, Aug. 13. Conserfest is on Saturday, Aug. 14, at the Town Beach Pavilion around 11 a.m. Conserfest then moves to Yellow Kittens.

Annual Hal Madison Race
The Hal Madison Race is on Saturday, Aug. 13. There will be a skippers’ meeting at the BI Club at 10 a.m. The first gun will be at 1 p.m. outside the entrance to the Great Salt Pond. There will be an awards party held after the racing at the BI Club at 6 p.m.

CROP Hunger Walk

Arts & Crafts Guild Fair
The Arts & Crafts Guild Fair is on Sunday, Aug. 14, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the lawn of the Block Island Historical Society.

Speaker & Book Signing Event
Jim Wallis, CEO of Sojourners, best-selling author, and frequent television spokesman for progressive Christianity, will speak at a public forum at Harbor Church on Tuesday, Aug. 16, at 7 p.m. His topic will be "Racism, White Privilege, and the Bridge to a New America." There will be time for questions and a book-signing of America's Original Sin.

BIMI Lecture Series
Yvonne Masakowski, Associate Proffesor of Strategic Leadership and Leader Development, US Naval War College, will be speaking on Tuesday, Aug. 16, at the BIMI Center at 7 p.m. The topic is "Whaling Women of New England."

Blues On The Block
Blues On The Block is on Wednesday, Aug. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Town Beach Pavilion. Johnny and the East Coast Rockers will be performing.

Film Class
Learn how to film, edit, and produce a one minute film, ages 9 to 19 at the Island Free Library on Wednesday, Aug. 17, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon and Thursday, Aug. 18, from 6 to 7 p.m.

Community Bonfire
There is a Community Bonfire being held on Wednesday, Aug. 17, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at Scotch Beach. Families and Individuals are welcome. This event is sponsored by the Wellness Coalition. This event is alcohol free.
