Common Ground Coffeehouse
Jayme Hennessy will lead a singalong performance at Common Ground Coffeehouse at Harbor Church on Friday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m. She will be joined by Maureen Flaherty, Lisa Sprague, and Beth Rousseau. A complimentary supper will be available at 6:30 p.m.

Art Classes

Farmers’ Market
Block Island Farmers’ Market runs every Wednesday and Saturday all season. The Wednesday market is on The Spring House lawn and the Saturday market is at Legion Park. Both are from 9 to 11:30 a.m. After Sept. 7, all markets are being held on The Spring House lawn.

Gallery Openings
There is a Group Exhibit at Jessie Edwards Studio over Labor Day Weekend. There is a Gallery Opening on Thursday, Sept. 8, at the Spring Street Gallery from 5 to 7 p.m. featuring photography by Jason Klein. There is a Gallery Opening on Thursday, Sept. 15, at the Spring Street Gallery from 5 to 7 p.m. featuring paintings by Lisa Robb.

Lions Club Clambake
The Lions Club Annual Clambake is on Saturday, Sept. 3, from 1 to 4 p.m. on the lawn of the Narraganssett Inn. Tickets are $40 for the Clambake or $20 for the BBQ. There will be live music, a raffle, and lots of great food.

Night Sky Viewing
There is a Night Sky Viewing on Saturday, Sept. 3, at 7:30 p.m. at the Hodge Preserve on Corn Neck Rd.

Around The Island Race
The Block Island Yacht Club will host the “Block Island Yacht Club Around the Island Pursuit Race” on Sunday, Sept. 4, at the Boat Basin. Events start at 10 a.m. with the Skippers Meeting and end with the after party at 6 p.m. Register at www.regattanetwork.com/event/13348 up until 10 a.m. on race day. Bereaved Parents Group
The Bereaved Parents Group meets on Sunday, Sept. 4, at 5 p.m. at St. Ann’s By-The-Sea.

Blood Drive
There is a Blood Drive being held on Thursday, Sept. 8, at the Block Island School gym from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Please enter the gym from the back of the school building.Call 453-8307 if you have questions about eligibility.

Edibles Luncheon
The Block Island Gardeners will host the Edibles Luncheon at the Narragansett Inn on Thursday, Sept. 8, at 12 noon.  Bring a lunch dish “from your garden” to share. Dr. Richard Casagrande, Professor of Entomology at URI, will speak on the “Ecological control of invasive plants and insects specific to Block Island." All are welcome.

Art Trail Night
On Thursday, Sept. 8, a tour bus will be making stops in town, at the Historical Society, and the airport on a continue loop between 6 and 8 p.m. Check out the Artists displaying works at all of our island Galleries. Meet at the parking lot in front of the Harbor Church.

Run Around The Block
The Run Around The Block 15K Road Race is being held on Saturday, Sept. 10, at 1 p.m. Register at www.active.com. The starting line is at Isaac's Corner and you finish at Champlins Marina. There are water stops  along the way.

CGSP Annual Meeting
The Committee for the Great Salt Pond Annual Meeting is being held on Sunday, Sept. 11, at 4 p.m. at the BIMI Center. Come learn what's under the Great Salt Pond. Refreshments will be served and a cash bar will be open. For more information visit www.CGSPBlockIsland.org.

Taste Of Block Island Weekend
The Taste of Block Island Weekend is Sept. 16 through 18. Sample all of the great activities, food and spirits that Block Island has to offer. Discounts, events, and all sorts of specials. Buttons can be purchased at the Chamber of Commerce office for $5 each.

Meditation Discussion
Dr. Alan Post discusses the effects of meditation to reduce stress. Saturday, Sept. 17, at 2 p.m. at the Island Free Library.
