Common Ground Coffeehouse
On Friday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. Common Ground Coffeehouse will screen the 2016 feel-good Irish musical Sing Street, which follows a 14-year-old boy in 1980's Dublin as he forms a band to impress a girl. No charge. A complimentary supper will be served beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Tai Chi Classes
Every Friday at the Community Center at 4 p.m. The classes are outside depending on the weather. Any age and beginners are welcome. Donations cover the costs. Studies show Tai Chi helps balance, blood pressure, depression, back pain, mood disorders, and sleep apnea. For more information contact Tom Hobin, PT at (720) 352-8707.

Yoga Classes
Gwendolyn Alker will be teaching three yoga classes a week. The Tuesday morning  class is a gentle Kripalu class suitable for anyone with physical injuries or limitations. The  Thursday afternoon class is an intermediate Align and Flow class, Both classes are at the Community Center. Island Free Library Book Event
The Friends of the Island Free Library are pleased to present Ray Rickman’s “Value of the Book” program on Saturday, Oct. 22, 3 p.m. at the Library. Mr. Rickman will cover what makes a book valuable and what types of books have the highest retail value. He will offer complimentary estimates of up to three of your books’ market value.

Pancake Breakfast
There is a fundraiser Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, Oct. 23, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Block Island School to benefit the grade 10 "Further-A-Field" trip to St. Croix. There will be blueberry, chocolate chip, or banana pancakes! whipped cream, coffee/tea, and juice. Adults are $10 and Kids under 10 are $5.

Democratic Town Committee Fundraiser
The New Shoreham Democratic Town Committee will hold a fundraiser event on Sunday, October 23, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Winfield's Restaurant. Helping Hands Food Pantry
The next Helping Hands Food Pantry date is Wednesday, Nov. 2. Helping Hands Food Pantry is open every other Wednesday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Harbor Church.

Scenic Block Island Annual meeting
Scenic Block Island’s Annual meeting to discuss plans for 2017 will be held at Sharon and John Lehman’s home on October 23, from 4 to 5 p.m.

Roll Call Dinner
The entire island is invited to share in a complete turkey dinner at the annual Roll Call Dinner at the Harbor Church on Tuesday, Oct. 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. Admission is by donation of any amount. If you would like to volunteer to help email harborchurch1765@gmail.com, or call 536-4609.

Taize Prayer Service
Taize Prayer Service is being held on Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 5 p.m. at St. Ann’s By-The-Sea.

Halloween Double Feature
The Island Free Library is showing Hocus Pocus (PG) at 6 p.m. and The Blair Witch Project (R) on Friday, Oct. 28. Popcorn will be provided.

School Halloween Dance!
There is a Halloween Dance at the Block Island School on Friday, Oct. 28, from 7:30 to 10 p.m.for grades 8 to 12. DJ Josh will be preforming and there will be refreshments.  Costumes and mainland friends welcome. $5/ person. Sponsored by BI Wellness Coalition.

Hurricanes Home Games
There is a Varsity Soccer game on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 12:15 p.m. at Heinz Field against Times Squared.

Animal Rescue Program
Mystic Aquarium is having a free First Responder Animal Rescue Training. Saturday, Oct. 29, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Town Hall. Must be 18 or older to attend.

Halloween Parties
The annual Yellow Kittens Halloween Party is on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. There is a $10 cover at the door to benefit the B.I. Volunteer Fire Department. There is also a Halloween Party at The Spring House Hotel on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 9:30 p.m. $10 cover.

Lunch Bunch
Lunch Bunch begins Tuesday, Nov. 1, at 12:30 p.m. at the Community Center.

Bereavement Group
The Bereavement Group will be meeting on Sunday, Nov. 6, at 3 p.m. at St. Ann's By-The-Sea.

Prayer Shawl Ministry
The Prayer Shawl Ministry will be meeting on Monday, Nov. 8, at 7 p.m. at the Harbor Church.

Blood Drive
Rhode Island Blood Center will be at the Block Island School for blood donations from 1 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10. For information call (401) 453-8383.

Hunter Safety Course
The Recreation Department is sponsoring a Hunter Safety Course. It is a two day class given by the Department of Environmental Management. Saturday, Nov. 19, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 20, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (must attend both classes) at the Island Free Library.
