Common Ground Coffeehouse
Madeline Fendrick and Brian Peck will bring their traditional-style folk music to Common Ground Coffeehouse on Friday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m. Local poet friends of Fendrick & Peck will read poems that speak to their songs. Complimentary supper at 6:30 p.m. will feature Lisa Sprague's award-winning clam chowder. There is no charge, but donations for the musicians are encouraged.

Tai Chi Classes
Every Friday at the Community Center at 3 p.m. The classes are outside depending on the weather. Any age and beginners are welcome. Donations cover the costs. For more information contact Tom Hobin, PT, at (720) 352-8707.

African Drumming
There is African Drumming every Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Spring Street Gallery. Drop in, drums are provided.

Artist Studio Space

Choir Rehearsal
The Block Island Ecumenical Choir rehearsals are every Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Harbor Church. All are welcome.

Helping Hands Food Pantry
The next Helping Hands Food Pantry date is Wednesday, Nov. 16. Helping Hands Food Pantry is open every other Wednesday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Harbor Church.

Lunch Bunch
Lunch Bunch is every Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at the Community Center.

Bereavement Group
The Bereavement Group will be meeting on Sunday, Nov. 6, at 3 p.m. at St. Ann’s By-The-Sea.

Grinder Sale
The Recreation Department’s Annual Grinder Sale to support the Sunday River Ski & Board Trip will take place on Election Day, Nov. 8. Meatball, Italian, and Veggie grinders will be on sale from noon to 8 p.m. at the Town Hall. Pick one up for lunch and another for dinner!

Library’s ‘Stay Curious’ Events
1. “Wuthering Heights” on Wednesday, Nov. 9. Book discussion at 5 p.m. and film at 7 p.m.
2. “Environmental Literature” on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 5 p.m.

Blood Drive

Community Bingo
There is Community Bingo on Sunday, Nov. 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Community Center. Everyone is welcome.

Prayer Shawl Ministry
The Prayer Shawl Ministry will be meeting on Monday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. at the Harbor Church.

Hunter Safety Course
The Recreation Dept. is sponsoring a Hunter Safety Course. It is a two-day class given by the DEM. Saturday, Nov. 19, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 20, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Island Free Library. For more information call 466-3223.

Thanksgiving Oyster Benefit
On Tuesday, Nov. 22, Sun Farm Oysters will be having its annual Thanksgiving oyster benefit for Block Island based non-profits starting at 4 p.m. at the parking lot between Washington Trust and Old Island Pub. Last year it raised over $1,600 through your generosity. A dozen oysters can be purchased for a donation of $5.

Taize Prayer Service
Taize Prayer Service is being held on Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 5 p.m. at St. Ann's By-The-Sea.

Turkey Trot
The annual 5K Turkey Trot will be held on Saturday, Nov. 26. Starting time is at 1 p.m. at the Fred Benson State Beach. Registration form is available at blockislandchamber.com (return to the Chamber office) or at Active.com. Remember to register early to secure your race T-shirt. See you at the starting line!

BIYC Maritime Scholorship
Applications for the BIYC Maritime Scholarship will be accepted until Feb. 1, 2016. Students who have already graduated from the Block Island School, intend to pursue maritime careers, and are currently enrolled in a college undergraduate maritime program are eligible.
