Common Ground Coffeehouse
In honor of Veteran's Day, on Friday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m. Common Ground Coffeehouse will show the movie "All Quiet on the Western Front", rereleased to mark the centennial of World War I. It was the Best Picture of 1930 and ranked one of the top 100 films of all time. Complimentary supper at 6:30 p.m. No charge.

Tai Chi Classes
Every Friday at the Community Center at 3 p.m. The classes are outside depending on the weather. Any age, and beginners are welcome. Donations cover the costs. For more information contact Tom Hobin, PT, at (720) 352-8707.

African Drumming
There is African Drumming every Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Spring Street Gallery. Drop in, drums are provided.

Artist Studio Space

Choir Rehearsal
The Block Island Ecumenical Choir rehearsals are every Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Harbor Church. All are welcome.

Helping Hands Food Pantry
The next Helping Hands Food Pantry date is Wednesday, Nov. 16. There will be turkeys available Nov. 16, for Thanksgiving. Helping Hands Food Pantry is open every other Wednesday from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at the Harbor Church.

Study Hall
Sundays from 2 to 5 p.m. and Tuesdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m the Island Free Library will be holding Power Hours for Scholars. Staff will be on hand to supervise and facilitate research, including locating resources, evaluating material and correct citation.  As well as monitoring group projects and answering basic comprehension questions. Our staff is skilled, the Wi-Fi is speedy, the printer has ink and the snacks are free!

Lunch Bunch
Lunch Bunch is every Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at the Community Center.

Library Learning Series
Introduction to American Environmental Writing with Mike Petrik. Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 5 p.m. at the Island Free Library. All are welcome.

Community Bingo
There is Community Bingo on Sunday, Nov. 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Community Center. Everyone is welcome.

Prayer Shawl Ministry
The Prayer Shawl Ministry will be meeting on Monday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. at the Harbor Church.

Crazy-As-A-Coot Bird Walk

Library’s ‘Stay Curious’ Events

Holiday Wreath Decorating
On Wednesday, Nov. 16,  at 10:30 a.m. at the Harbor Baptist Church the BI Gardeners will be decorating holiday wreaths for the Island.  Bring gardening gloves.  As always, we need help distributing the 42 wreaths, including those on telephone poles. Lunch will be served.

Hunter Safety Course
The Recreation Dept. is sponsoring a Hunter Safety Course. It is a two-day class given by the DEM. Saturday, Nov. 19, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 20, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Island Free Library. For more information call 466-3223.

Thanksgiving Oyster Benefit
On Tuesday, Nov. 22, Sun Farm Oysters will be having its annual Thanksgiving oyster benefit for Block Island based non-profits starting at 4 p.m. at the parking lot between Washington Trust and Old Island Pub. Last year it raised over $1,600 through your generosity. A dozen oysters can be purchased for a donation of $5.

Holiday Shopping Stroll
Many shops will be open for the holiday stroll over the three day weekend of Friday, Nov. 25, to Sunday, Nov. 27. There are lots of great deals and also some holiday treats.

Turkey Trot
The annual 5K Turkey Trot will be held on Saturday, Nov. 26. Starting time is at 1 p.m. at the Fred Benson Town Beach. Registration form is available at blockislandchamber.com (return to the Chamber office) or at Active.com. Remember to register early to secure your race T-shirt. See you at the starting line!

Taize Prayer Service
Taize Prayer Service is being held on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 5 p.m. at St. Ann's By-The-Sea.

BIYC Maritime Scholarship
Applications for the BIYC Maritime Scholarship will be accepted until Feb. 1, 2016. Students who have already graduated from the Block Island School, intend to pursue maritime careers, and are currently enrolled in a college undergraduate maritime program are eligible.
