Common Ground Coffee House
Charlestown indie folksinger Will Houlihan, who performs under the name Haunt the House," will bring his affecting and spooky vocals to Common Ground Coffeehouse on Friday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. Haunt the House released a third CD last year and was invited to perform at the Newport Folk Festival. A complimentary supper will be served at 6:30 p.m. No charge, but donations for the musician are encouraged.

Helping Hands Food Pantry
The next Helping Hands Food Pantry is Wednesday, Dec. 14. Helping Hands Food Pantry is open every other Wednesday from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at the Harbor Church.
Sundays from 2 to 5 p.m. and Tuesdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m the Island Free Library will be holding Power Hours for Scholars. Staff will be on hand to supervise and facilitate research, monitor group projects, and answer basic comprehension questions. Enter through the side door.
Lunch Bunch is every Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at the Community Center.
Many of the stores in town will be open every Tuesday night in Dec. for the Shopping Stroll. Also the Winter Market at the Island free Library and the Artist Fair at McAloon's are open every Tuesday night in Dec. as part of the Shopping Stroll.

Santa will be ariving at the B.I. Fire Barn on Sunday, Dec. 18, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. For children in fourth grade or under.

The Block Island School is having its Holiday Concert on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 1 p.m. in the school gym.
Taize Prayer Service
Taize Prayer Service will be on Wednesday, Dec. 28, at 5 p.m. at St. Ann's By-The-Sea.
BIYC Maritime Scholarship
Applications for the B.I. Yacht Club Maritime Scholarship will be accepted until Feb. 1, 2017. Students who have graduated from the Block Island School, intend to pursue maritime careers, and are currently enrolled in a college undergraduate maritime program are eligible.
