Common Ground Coffee House 
On Friday, March 17, at 7 p.m., the Common Ground Coffeehouse at Harbor Church will show Alan Parker’s 1991 film “The Commitments,” about a fictional Irish rock band playing soul music. Corned beef and cabbage supper at 6:30 p.m. No charge, donations welcome.

Helping Hands Food Pantry 
The next Helping Hands Food Pantry is Wednesday, March 22. Helping Hands Food Pantry is open every other Wednesday from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at the Harbor Church.

Study Hall 
Sundays from 2 to 5 p.m. and Tuesdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m., the Island Free Library will be holding Power Hours for Scholars. Staff will be on hand to supervise and facilitate research, monitor group projects, and answer basic comprehension questions. Enter through the side door.

Tech Talk 
The Island Free Library is hosting discussions about the latest technology and digital devices every Wednesday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Free advice and free tips. Everyone is welcome!

Lunch Bunch 
Lunch Bunch is held every Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at the Community Center.

Spring Dance 
There is a Spring Dance on Friday, March 17, from 7 to 9 p.m. Open to grades five to seven at the Block Island School. DJ Josh performing and refreshments served. $5 per person and wear green! Sponsored by B.I. Wellness Coalition.

St. Patrick’s Day Brunch 
The Catholic Ladies Guild will be having their annual St. Patrick’s Day Brunch on Sunday, March 19, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the St. Andrew Parish Center.

Crazy-As-A-Coot Bird Walk
There will be a Crazy-as-a-Coot Bird Walk on Tuesday, March 21, at 8 a.m. Call 401-595-7055 for location.

Taize Prayer Service 
The Taize Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday, March 22, at 5 p.m. at St. Ann’s By-The-Sea.

Project Chick
Casey Farm’s Project Chick returns to the Island Free Library on Friday, March 24, at 1 p.m. An educator from Casey Farm will be bringing a Dominique chicken and eggs to be incubated  to the library to talk about bird life cycles and the farm life of a free range chicken in this hands-on program.

Shorebird Walk 
Discover the fascinating nature of Block Island. Funded by the Friends of James Stover (1996 - 2003). Saturday, March 25, at 1 p.m. Meet at Andy’s Way parking lot off Corn Neck Rd.

Stump the Naturalist
Drop by and see what cool specimen is on hand, and/or bring some natural history item to be identified. Sunday, March 26, from 11a.m. to 1p.m. at the Island Free Library.

Block Island School's Annual Chili-Fest
Take the Chili-Challenge! Wednesday, March 29, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the School cafeteria. Enter a favorite recipe or come and enjoy a variety of tasty chili in a handmade bowl that’s yours to keep. If you would like to enter, please call Lisa at 466-2629.

Bereavement Group
The Bereavement Group will be meeting on Sunday, April 2, at 3 p.m. at St. Ann’s By-The-Sea.

2017 July 4th celebration 
The theme of this year’s parade is “Block Island Memories.” Fireworks will be held on Sunday, July 2 (rain date July 3). Donations are needed to reserve bands and fireworks. Please send to Double Ender Committee, PO Box 808, Block Island, R.I. 02807.
