Common Ground Coffee House  
On Friday, March 24, at 7 p.m. the Common Ground Coffeehouse at Harbor Church will present “Moonlight,” the African-American coming-of-age drama that won the 2017 Best Picture Academy Award. A complimentary supper will be served at 6:30 p.m. Coffee and dessert will be available just before the film. No charge, but donations are appreciated.

Helping Hands Food Pantry  
The next Helping Hands Food Pantry is Wednesday, April 5. Helping Hand is open every other Wednesday from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at the Harbor Church.

Study Hall  
Sundays from 2 to 5 p.m. and Tuesdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m., the Island Free Library will be holding Power Hours for Scholars. Staff will be on hand to supervise and facilitate research, monitor group projects, and answer basic comprehension questions. Enter through the side door.

Tech Talk  
The Island Free Library is hosting discussions about the latest technology and digital devices every Wednesday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Free advice and free tips. Everyone is welcome!

Lunch Bunch  
Lunch Bunch is held every Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at the Community Center.

Project Chick 
Casey Farm’s Project Chick returns to the Island Free Library on Friday, March 24, at 1 p.m. An educator from Casey Farm will be bringing a Dominique chicken, and eggs to be incubated. The educator will talk about bird life cycles and the farm life of a free-range chicken in this hands-on program.

Youth Basketball Tournament
There is a Youth Basketball Tournament on Saturday, Mach 25, at 12:30 p.m. at the Block Island School. Come support the BI Hurricanes Youth Rec. League. Hot dogs and pizza will be available. There will also be a Bake Sale.

Shorebird Walk  
Discover the fascinating nature of Block Island. Funded by the Friends of James Stover (1996 - 2003). Saturday, March 25, at 1 p.m. Meet at Andy’s Way parking lot off Corn Neck Rd.

Stump the Naturalist 
Drop by and see what cool specimen is on hand, and/or bring some natural history item to be identified. Sunday, March 26, from 11a.m. to 1p.m. at the Island Free Library.

Film & Soup
Film and Soup will be showing “How to Let Go of the World and Love all the Things Climate Can’t Change.” on Tuesday, March 28, at 6:30 p.m. at the Island Free Library. Bring a spoon and bowl/cup for sharing the soup.

Block Island School's Annual Chili-Fest 
Take the Chili-Challenge! Wednesday, March 29, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the School cafeteria. Enter a favorite recipe or come and enjoy a variety of tasty chili in a handmade bowl that’s yours to keep. If you would like to enter, please call Lisa at 466-2629.

Hurricanes Home Games
Girls Varsity Softball will be playing South Kingstown on Saturday, April 1, at 1 p.m. Girls Varsity will be playing Central on Saturday, April 1, at 3 p.m. All games are played at Heinz Field.

Bereavement Group
The Bereavement Group will be meeting on Sunday, April 2, at 3 p.m. at St. Ann’s By-The-Sea.

Court of Honor
Block Island Boy Scout Troop 30 invites everyone to a Court of Honor on Tuesday, April 4, at 3 p.m. at the Island Free Library (downstairs). Join our Scouts as they receive their Rank Advancement and Merit Badge patches. Light refreshments will be served.

Shellfish Restoration Fundraiser
Inaugural fundraiser for the “Bo” Gempp Memorial Shellfish Restoration Fund on Sunday, April 9, at 4 p.m. at Club Soda. Featuring a buffet of Bo’s favorite foods, cooked by his many friends. Suggested donation of $20.

Prayer Shawl Ministry
The Prayer Shawl Ministry will be on Monday April 10, at 7 p.m. at the Harbor Church.

Easter Bunny & Easter Egg Hunt
The Easter Egg Hunt is on Saturday, April 15, at 11 a.m. at Ball O’Brien Park. There will also be a visit from the Easter Bunny.Sponsored by the Block Island Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Woodcock Walk
Come witness the Woodcock’s unique courtship flights. Saturday, April 15, at 7:15 p.m. Meet at the Hodge Preserve. Sponsored by the James Stover Exploration Series.

2017 July 4th celebration  
The theme of this year’s parade is “Block Island Memories.” Fireworks will be held on Sunday, July 2 (rain date July 3). Donations are needed to reserve bands and fireworks. Please send to Double Ender Committee, PO Box 808, Block Island, R.I. 02807.
