Common Ground Coffee House
On Friday, March 31 at 7 p.m. Common Ground Coffeehouse will present the movie “Fences,” adapted from August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize winning play, with stars of the Broadway revival reunited. Viola Davis of Rhode Island won the Oscar for Best Actress. Denzel Washington was nominated for Best Actor and won the SAG award for Best Actor. “Fences” was also nominated for Best Film and Best Adapted Screenplay. Rated PG-13. Complimentary supper served at 6:30 p.m.

Helping Hands Food Pantry
The next Helping Hands Food Pantry is Wednesday, April 5. Helping Hands is open every other Wednesday from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at the Harbor Church.

Peanut Butter Drive
Washington Trust is having their annual Peanut Butter Drive. Please drop off new jars of peanut butter in the lobby of Washington Trust during business hours over the next few weeks. All jars collected will go to the Helping Hands Food Pantry.

Study Hall
Sundays from 2 to 5 p.m. and Tuesdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m., the Island Free Library will be holding Power Hours for Scholars. Staff will be on hand to supervise and facilitate research, monitor group projects, and answer basic comprehension questions. Enter through the side door.

Tech Talk
The Island Free Library is hosting discussions about the latest technology and digital devices every Wednesday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Free advice and free tips. Everyone is welcome!

Lunch Bunch
Lunch Bunch is held every Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at the Community Center.

Hurricanes Home Games
Girls Varsity Softball will be playing South Kingstown on Saturday, April 1, at 1 p.m. Girls Varsity will be playing Central on Saturday, April 1, at 3 p.m. All games are played at Heinz Field.

Beach Party
Club Soda is having their annual Beach Party on Saturday, April 1, at 9 p.m. There will be lots of sand and summer attitude! Plus the fabulous music of Rugburn!

Bereavement Group
The Bereavement Group will be meeting on Sunday, April 2, at 3 p.m. at St. Ann’s By-The-Sea.

Court of Honor
Block Island Boy Scout Troop 30 invites everyone to a Court of Honor on Tuesday, April 4, at 3 p.m. at the Island Free Library (downstairs). Join our Scouts as they receive their Rank Advancement and Merit Badge patches. Light refreshments will be served.

There is a webinar on Airbnb Hosted by The Island Free Library and the Block Island Chamber of Commerce. At The Island Free Library on Tuesday, April 4 at 6 p.m. Food and wine reception. If you've ever considered renting a room in your home, or using Airbnb as a marketing tool for your existing business accommodation, this program will help answer all of your questions.

Pizza & Parables
Pizza and Parables continues every Thursday at noon at Harbor Church through Lent (April 6, and April 13). Join us for a complimentary lunch and a discussion of one of Jesus' parables.

Shellfish Restoration Fundraiser
Inaugural fundraiser for the “Bo” Gempp Memorial Shellfish Restoration Fund on Sunday, April 9, at 4 p.m. at Club Soda. Featuring a buffet of Bo’s favorite foods, cooked by his many friends. Suggested donation of $20.

Prayer Shawl Ministry
The Prayer Shawl Ministry will be on Monday, April 10, at 7 p.m. at the Harbor Church.

Easter Bunny & Easter Egg Hunt
The Easter Egg Hunt is on Saturday, April 15, at 11 a.m. at Ball O’Brien Park. There will also be a visit from the Easter Bunny.Sponsored by the Block Island Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Woodcock Walk
Come witness the woodcock’s unique courtship flights. Saturday, April 15, at 7:15 p.m. Meet at the Hodge Preserve. Sponsored by the James Stover Exploration Series.

2017 July 4th celebration
