Common Ground Coffeehouse
Common Ground Coffeehouse will host Providence folksinger John Fuzek on Friday, May 26, at 7 p.m. with his blend of humorous songs, socially conscious songs, and personal memories. His lyrics range from the tree that grew from Roger Williams' body to the carousel at Rocky Point. No charge, but donations for the musician are encouraged. Join us at 6:30p.m. for a complimentary burger-and-dog cookout with some of our international students.
Sundays from 2 to 5 p.m. and Tuesdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m., the Island Free Library will be holding Power Hours for Scholars. Staff will be on hand to supervise and facilitate research, monitor group projects, and answer basic comprehension questions. Enter through the side door. Study hall on Sunday June 4, Will be Ice Cream Sundae for Finals and the last study hall of the season will be Tuesday, June 6, and will have pizza available.

Bake, Book & Bloom Sale
The Bake, Book, and Bloom Sale will be held on Saturday, May 27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Island Free Library. Delicious baked goods, awesome books, glorious blooms of every sort from Clark Farms, a Silent Auction and URI Master Gardeners to answer questions and test your soil. Goose and Garden is donating 10 percent of vegetable, perennials, and annual plant sales starting Friday, May 26, through the weekend.
Horseshoe Crab Survey & Tagging Workshops
Sunday, May 28, at 11 a.m., at Cormorant Cove. This is a citizen science program called Project Limulus, which on Block Island is led by The Nature Conservancy. For information, or to sign up, call Kim Gaffett at 401-595-7055.

Walter Hilse of New York City will give his annual organ recital at Harbor Church on Monday, May 29, at 7:30 p.m. at Harbor Church. His program will include works by Mendelssohn, Bach, Franck, Ives, and Hilse.
Film & Soup
Film & Soup will be showing “Landfillharmonic” on Tuesday, May 30, at 6:30 p.m. at the Island Free Library. Bring a spoon and bowl/cup for sharing the soup.
The Spring Piano Recital, presented by students of Carrie Todd, will be held Wednesday, May 31, at 7 p.m. at St. Andrew Parish Center. The public is invited to attend and hear our Island children play their favorite songs.
There will be a Plant Swap, sponsored by the Block Island Gardeners, on Saturday, June 3, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. All islanders are welcome to come and bring a plant (or not) and leave with a plant. Follow the daffodils to the home of Maude Chasse, off Spring Street.
The Bereavement group will be meeting on Sunday, June 4, at 3 p.m. at St. Ann’s By-The-Sea.

The Not New Boutique is open on Saturday, June 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the St. Andrew Parish Center. Sponsored by the Catholic Ladies Guild.
Farmers Market starts Saturday, June 10, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Legion Park. Then runs every Wednesday on the Spring House Lawn and every Saturday at Legion Park from 9 to 11:30 a.m.
A Bite Of Block Island
Enjoy a taste of 2017 menu items from the island’s finest dining establishments. Tickets are $20 and the proceeds benefit Helping Hands Food Pantry. Sunday, June 11, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Block Island Maritime Center.
The Block Island Restaurant Week runs from Sunday, June 11 am 9 a.m. to Saturday, June 17, at 8 p.m. Participating restaurants offer a two course pre-fixed lunch and a three course pre-fixed dinner. The "Blue Ticket" participating retail businesses will give customers one blue ticket for each $25. spent at their business. There will then be a drawing at the end of the week to award three cash prizes.
Block Island Music Festival
The Block Island Music Festival runs from Tuesday, June 13, at 5 p.m. to Sunday, June 18, at 12 a.m. In accordance with the organic nature of The Block Island Music Festival, admission is free of charge. The festival is a 21+ years of age and proper identification is absolutely required. Children will be admitted between the hours of 5 to 9 p.m. Only under strict parental supervision. Annual American Legion Auxiliary Yard Sale
The American Legion Auxiliary is accepting donations of household goods, furniture, kitchen tools, and decorative items for its Annual Yard Sale on June 23, and 24, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the corner of Ocean Ave. and Connecticut Ave. If you need help or pick up of large items, please call 401-465-9943. All other items can be dropped off early morning on sale days.
2017 July 4th celebration
