Common Ground Coffeehouse
This Friday, July 14, at 7 p.m. the Common Ground Coffeehouse presents the movie “A Quiet Passion, the story of Emily Dickinson.” All are welcome at 6:30 p.m. for a free supper, along with international students, or join us at 7 p.m. inside for coffee and cookies.

In “Confessions of a Secular Jesus Follower,” Tom Krattenmaker, award-winning USA Today columnist, describes his journey to Jesus without need of invoking the supernatural. Tom will share why he finds Jesus so – but the idea of God less so -- compelling at the Harbor Church on Monday, July 17, at 7 p.m. Q&A and book signing to follow.
BIMI Lecture Series
Exploring Rhode Island’s Largest “Ship Graveyard” and Its Block Island Connection – David S. Robinson, Marine Archaeologist, University of Rhode Island, Graduate School of Oceanography Tuesday, July 18, at 7 p.m. at the Block Island Maritime Institute.
Island poet Steve Hollaway will present a "Third Time's the Charm" Poetry Reading on Tuesday, July 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the sun room of Harbor Church. He gave two readings during the spring of poems he wrote during a two-month sabbatical in Santa Fe and Taos.

Songs of the Sea and Shore
Songs of the Sea and Shore sung by Bonnie Milner and Jon Campbell on Thursday, July 20, at BIMI at 7 p.m. Songs the sailors used to sing- sea chantries, as well as contemporary nautical songs written by Jon. A fun night, it's FREE compliments of BIMI and refreshments will be served.

Harbor Church Fair & Auction
Harbor Church's annual Fair and Auction will take place under the big tent on Saturday, July 22, from 9 a.m. to noon. A Jazz Brunch will be served from 9 to 10:30 a.m. featuring music by Cameron Greenlee as you enjoy home-baked goodies, fruit, egg dishes, and bacon. The Live Auction will begin at 10:30 a.m. but Tony's Treasures and Mystery Gifts will be available starting at 9 a.m. Call Ellen Jacke at 466-2827 or the church office at 466-5940 for information or to volunteer to help with this event.
The Block Island Acappella Festival is on Saturday, July 22, at 8 p.m. at St. Andrew Church on Chapel St. Tickets are $25 and all proceeds go to the Mary D. Fund.

Arts & Crafts Guild Fair
The Block Island Arts and Crafts Guild Fair is on Sunday, July 23, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the lawn of the Historical Society.
“Seeking Shelter from the Storm: Daniel Berrigan, William Stringfellow, and Block Island,” an exhibition, runs from July 11 to Oct. 9, at the Island Free Library.

This season the Harbor Church is offering child care and fun activities during the Sunday morning worship service from 10 to 11 a.m. No charge and no reservation required. Two adults stay with the children, one of them certified in babysitting and first aid.
