Common Ground Coffeehouse
Friday, Aug.18, at 7 p.m. Common Ground Coffeehouse will present a rare double bill. The opening act with be Carrie Johnson, a singer-songwriter from CT. The second act will be Mark Cutler, one of the best-loved figures in Rhode Island Rock and Roll and a member of the RI Music Hall of Fame. Free supper with international students available at 6:30 p.m. Donations for musicians are encouraged.
There is a reception at Jessie Edwards Gallery on Saturday, Aug. 19, from 5 to 7 p.m. featuring paintings by Peter Michael Gish. West Beach Walk
Great beach walk for wildlife along the scenic north end. Sponsored by the James Stover Exploration Series. Saturday, Aug. 19, at 8 a.m. Meet at the end of West Beach Road.
The Block Island Ecumenical Ministries is sponsoring the annual Conservancy Service held at Pete Wood's at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19. The service features Tony Pappas as our homilist and Virginia Dare will be providing the music. There is a collation to follow the service.
Arts & Crafts Guild Fair
The Arts and Crafts Guild Fair is on Sunday, Aug. 20, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the lawn of the Historical Society.

There will be a night Sky Viewing on Wednesday, Aug. 23, at 8 p.m. at the Hodge Preserve. Bring a blanket or beach chair.
The Block Island Maritime Institute is hosting Oysta’ Fest on Saturday, Aug. 26, from 4 to 6 p.m. Oysters, hot dogs, chips, beer and wine, music, and fun!. $25 for adults kids under 8 free.

”Seeking Shelter from the Storm,” Daniel Berrigan, William Stringfellow and Block Island, the exhibition is open for viewing during Island Free Library hours. Weekly programming for this exhibition is scheduled for every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Island Free Library. Exhibition runs until Oct. 9.

This season the Harbor Church is offering child care and fun activities during the Sunday morning worship service from 10 to 11 a.m. No charge and no reservation required. Two adults stay with the children, one of them certified in babysitting and first aid.
