Common Ground Coffeehouse
Common Ground Coffeehouse presents the music of Kala Farnham on Friday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m. She is a young singer-songwriter from CT who plays piano, guitar, and harp. A complimentary supper will be served at 6:30 p.m. the student dinners are over and it's just music-lovers.
Spring Street Gallery has the following artist receptions: Saturday, Sep. 16, from 5 to 7 p.m., featuring plein air paintings by Enid Braun.
Not New Boutique
The Not New Boutique is on Friday, Sept. 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the St. Andrew Parish Center.
Family Support Group
NAMI-Block Island is offering a free Family Support Group for anyone with a family member living with mental illness. The group will meet monthly beginning Saturday, Sept. 9, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in Room C of the Island Free Library. Facilitators are locals who have received extensive training, and also have family with mental health challenges.
Run Around The Block
The Annual 15K Run Around The Block road race is on Saturday, Sept. 9, at 1:30 p.m. at Isaac’s Corner. Register at active.com.
Historical Society Annual Meeting
The B.I. Historical Society Annual Meeting is on Saturday, Sept. 9, at 5 p.m. Program: PowerPoint presentation by Director Dr. Gerry Abbott under the tent on the side lawn of the Museum, with highlighted images from the 75th anniversary exhibit. Reception to follow with wine and nibbles. Public welcome.

Comm. For The Great Salt Pond Annual Meeting
The Committee for the Great Salt Pond is having their Annual Meeting on Sunday, Sept. 10, at 4 p.m. at the Block Island Maritime Institute. There will be guest speakers and refreshments. All are welcome.

Poor People's Pub will be hosting the second annual Thank You day on Monday, Sept. 11. All members of the BIVFD, Rescue Squad, and New Shoreham Police Department are invited to enjoy a lunch or dinner entree free, a small token of thanks for all that you do for this community.

Andy’s Way Bird Walk
There is an Andy’s Way Bird Walk on Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 8 a.m. Meet at Andy’s Way parking area, and be prepared to get your feet wet.
Ann Hood, the author of the best-selling novels The Book That Matters Most, The Knitting Circle, and Somewhere Off the Coast of Maine, will be at the Island Free Library on Wednesday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m. to discuss her newest book, Morningstar. Books will be available for signing and refreshments will be served.
Historical Society Tours
There will be special guided tours of “The Island’s Attic — interesting objects from the archives and special items celebrating the Historical Society’s 75th anniversary.” Tours: Friday, Sept. 15, at noon and 2 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 16, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.; and Sunday, Sept. 17, at 11 a.m. Tickets are $10/adults; $5 children. Tour includes a free poster and postcard set.
