Common Ground Coffeehouse
Common Ground Coffeehouse on Friday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m. will show the 2017 French film “Heal the Living” (Reparer Les Vivants), the story of a transplant from the points of view of the donor family, the recipient's family, and the doctors in between. Soup and goodies served beginning 6:30 p.m. at Harbor Church.

Hurricanes Home Soccer Games
There is a Varsity game on Friday, Sept.22, at 12:30 p.m. against Oxford. There is a Junior Varsity game on Saturday, Sept. 23, at 11:45 a.m. against Pennfield and at 1 p.m. against Philomenas. There is a Junior Varsity game on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 12:45 p.m. against JF Wilbur. There is a Varsity game on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 12:30 p.m. against Middlebridge. All games are played at Heinz Field.

Grief Group
A new grief community support group is starting on the island, sponsored by the Senior Advisory Committee. Psychotherapist Kerri Gaffett will facilitate the new, free support group every other Tuesday afternoon. The first session will be held on Sept. 26, at 4 p.m. at the Community Center meeting room.

Tourism Council Annual Meeting
The Block Island Tourism Council will be holding its Annual Meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at the Spring House Hotel. Complimentary appetizers start at 4:30 p.m. and the meeting begins at 5 p.m. Hear about summer visitation and hear a presentation on the effects of the Wind Farm on Tourism.

Night Sky Viewing
There will be a Night Sky Viewing on Monday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m. at the Hodge Preserve. Bring Beach towel or beach chair for your comfort.

Fall Lecture Series
Tuesday, Sept. 26: Dr. Lynne Hale, TNC’s Asia Pacific Senior Marine Conservation Fellow, will speak about the value of coral and shellfish reef ecosystems from the Pacific to Rhode Island — even Block Island.

Andy’s Way Bird Walk
There is an Andy’s Way Bird Walk on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 8 a.m. Meet at Andy’s Way parking area, and be prepared to get your feet wet.

Taize Prayer Service
There will be a Taize Prayer Service on Wednesday, Sept. 27, at 5 p.m. at St. Ann’s By-The-Sea.

American Legion Meeting
American Legion Post 36 is having its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, Sept. 28, at Legion Hall on West Side Road. Meeting starts at 5:15 p.m. with a social get together and a short business meeting at 6 p.m. All active military and veterans visiting Block Island are invited to join us. Come meet the Block Island Vets.

Bereavement Group
The Bereavement Group will be meeting on Sunday, Oct. 1, at 5 p.m. at St. Ann’s By-The-Sea.

Block Island Gardeners' Fall Wrap-up
Everyone is invited to the Block Island Gardeners' annual Fall Wrap-up is at the Island Free Library (lower level) ‪on Thursday, Oct. 5, at 4 p.m. Enjoy some refreshments while participating in a round-table discussion with our local experts to review the highs and lows of the 2017 gardening season. Come away with fresh inspiration for next year!

Farmers Market
The Farmers Market is every Wednesday and Saturday on The Spring House lawn from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

Arts & Crafts Guild Fair/Last Farmers Market
The last Farmers Market of the year will be combined with the Arts and Crafts Guild Fair on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the lawn of the Historical Society.

The Third Annual BeatleFest will be held at Harbor Church on Sunday, Oct. 8, from 4 to 6 p.m. Five island acts and five mainland musicians will perform 2 or 3 favorite Beatles songs. Tickets, $20, benefit the church's programs; musicians and producers are donating their talents.

Ecumenical Choir Practice
The Ecumenical Choir will be having practice for the Thanksgiving concert every Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Harbor Church.

Seeking Shelter
“Seeking Shelter from the Storm, Daniel Berrigan, William Stringfellow and Block Island,” the exhibition, is open for viewing during Island Free Library hours. Weekly programming for this exhibition is scheduled for every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Island Free Library. Exhibition runs until Oct. 9.
