Common Ground Coffeehouse
Wisconsin folk musicians Fendrick and Peck will perform at Common Ground Coffeehouse on Friday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m. A complimentary light supper will be served at 6:30 p.m.
Tuesdays from 5 to 7 p.m., the Island Free Library will be holding Power Hours for Scholars. Staff will be on hand to supervise and facilitate research, monitor group projects, and answer basic comprehension questions. Free pizza!
Fun activities after school every Friday at the Island Free Library at 1 p.m. A different activity every week like Legos, Arts & Crafts, Board Games, and STEM projects.

Hurricanes Home Soccer Games
There are varsity games on the following dates: Friday, Oct. 13, at 12:45 p.m. against Times Squared; Friday, Oct. 20, at 2:15 p.m. against Oxford; Saturday, Oct. 21, at 12:15 p.m. against Grove. There is a Junior Varsity game on Thursday, Oct. 19, at 12:30 p.m. against JF Wilbur. All games are played at Heinz Field.
Family Fort Night
The Island Free Library is having a Family Fort Night at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 13. Bring some blankets and join in the fun!
Shred It & Forget It
A free paper shredding and recycling event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 14, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Town Beach parking lot. Limits: two file boxes or three grocery bags. Residents can drive up to the secure shredding truck provided by Affordable Shredding and safely dispose of unneeded or sensitive documents.

A presentation of the book, Venice’s Finest Hour: The Journey from Near Destruction to Greatest Glory, given by its author, Joel Farrell, at the Library on Tuesday, Oct.17, at 5:30 p.m. The author will introduce the gripping story of how the beautiful, otherworldly city of Venice came within a hair’s breadth of destruction at the hands of its arch-rival, the maritime Republic of Genoa. Refreshments will be served.
Helping Hands Food Pantry
Every other Wednesday at the Harbor Church starting Wednesday, Oct. 18, from 1 to 5 p.m. The next Helping Hands Pantry will be Wednesday, Nov. 1, from 1 to 5 p.m.
American Legion Meeting
American Legion Merrill Slate Post 36 will have its monthly meeting on Thursday, Oct. 19, at 5:15 p.m. at Legion Hall on West Side Rd. All visiting military and vets are invited to join us.
