Trustom Pond Bird Walk
Follow along as the Weekapaug Inn Naturalist leads you through Trustom Pond National Wildlife Refuge and helps identify some of the feathered creatures that call Rhode Island home. The stunning property features well-maintained trails that meander through native grasslands, upland forest and lead to a large coastal pond. Seal Watching Tour
Join us for this terrific experience! The waters around Wickford often provide a wonderful opportunity to view harbor seals. In our double kayaks, we'll get close enough to quietly observe but keep plenty of distance so that we don't disturb. Bring a lunch and make a day of it! $60 per person. Early New England Ice Harvesting
A collaboration with Historic New England and Old Colony Historical Museum, this talk by Jane Hennedy will help to break the ice on the process that early New Englanders had to endure in order to keep their food cold. Learn some of the specialty food items that came out of this process and became popular staples of the American diet. Free, but please register, as seating is limited. Tree Lighting and Open House
The waterfront will be bathed in holiday lights as the Christmas season begins in Newport! Frosty the Snowman arrives at 4:30 p.m., followed by the Christmas Carol Sing-a-long at 5 p.m. A Newport city official lights the thirty-foot tree at 6 p.m., immediately followed by Santa and Mrs. Claus arriving by boat (weather permitting) or by sleigh.
