On The Block
Fun activities after school every Friday at the Island Free Library at 1 p.m. A different activity every week like Legos, arts and crafts, board games, and STEM projects.
Tuesdays from 5 to 7 p.m., the Island Free Library will be holding “Power Hours for Scholars.” Staff will be on hand to supervise and facilitate research, monitor group projects, and answer basic comprehension questions. Free pizza!
Lunch Bunch is held every Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at the Community Center and will resume Nov. 28.
Free Artist Studio Space

Ecumenical Choir Practice
The Ecumenical Choir will be having practice for the Concert of Lessons and Carols every Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Harbor Church.
The Island Free Library will be hosting a weekly Social Hour at 5 p.m. Every Friday, all ages are welcome.
Letters to Santa
Santa Claus will have a special mailbox in the lobby of the Post Office from Monday, Nov.20, to , Wednesday, Dec. 18, for kids who wish to send a letter to the North Pole. Please make sure you include your return address so Santa can write you back before Christmas!
Thanksgiving Pie Sale
The Block Island School Friends are having a Thanksgiving Pie Sale on Wednesday, Nov. 22, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Island Free Library. They will also have Hurricanes Gear available!
17th Annual Thanksgiving Beach Walk
The Thanksgiving Beach Walk to honor the late Capt. John R. “Rob” Lewis is on Friday Nov. 24, at 9 a.m. Meet at the Town Beach Pavilion. Join us to celebrate this great man, who inspired so many people to donate land and resources to support conservation on this beautiful island. (Weather permitting.)
Holiday Open House
The Nature Conservancy is hosting an Open House to give thanks to the Island community for supporting our program. Friday, Nov. 24, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the 1661 Inn on Spring Street. Please stop by after the stroll for some holiday cheer!
Book Signing Event
Artist Josie Merck and poet Nancy Greenaway will hold a reading and signing event for their new book, “Present on Block Island,” at the Island Free Library on Friday, Nov. 24, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Common Ground Coffeehouse
There is no Coffeehouse on Friday, Nov. 24.
The annual Holiday Shopping Stroll is on Friday, Nov. 24 through Sunday, Nov. 26, at various locations around town. Check with the Block Island Chamber of Commerce for participating stores and restaurants.

Further Afield Tag Sale Fundraiser
Support the 10th grade’s Further Afield program, an annual environmental service and learning trip to The Nature Conservancy’s St. Croix program. Saturday, Nov. 25, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Yellow Kittens.
It’s That Time Of Year Again
On Saturday, Nov. 25, runners and walkers will line up near Fred Benson State Beach for the start of the 13th Annual Block Island Turkey Trot. The race begins at 1 p.m. Make sure you register early to reserve your t-shirt and if you would like to sponsor the race, contact Kathy Szabo at the Chamber Office at (401) 466-2474.
Holiday Greens Sale
The Block Island School Friends are having their annual Holiday Greens sale on Tuesday, Nov. 28 through Thursday, Nov. 30, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.at the Block Island School. There will be all sorts of wreaths and holiday plants for sale. They will also have Hurricanes Gear available!
There is a free Caregiver Support Group meeting every other Tuesday afternoon. The next session will be held on Nov. 28, at 4 p.m. at the Community Center meeting room.
Film & Soup
The Nature Conservancy & Island Free Library presents Film Soup showing ShellShocked: Saving Oysters to Save Ourselves on Tuesday, Nov. 28, at 6:30 p.m., at Island Library. Bring a spoon and a bowl/cup to share in the soup.
Helping Hands Food Pantry
Every other Wednesday at the Harbor Church. The next Helping Hands Pantry will be Wednesday, Nov. 29, from 1 to 5 p.m.
BIED Foundation/BIED Housing Corporation Meeting
The Block Island Economic Development Foundation and Block Island Economic Development Housing Corporation Annual Meeting will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 29, at 5:30 p.m. at the Community Center.
Mainland Shopping Trip

The Friends and Staff of the Island Free Library invite you to the Annual Holiday Open House at the Library on Friday, Dec. 1, from 5 to 7 PM. Come and enjoy the food, drink, and festive holiday music.
After three years, the coordinators of the Block Island Bereavement group, formerly known as the Block Island Bereaved Parents Group, have decided to suspend our monthly meetings.
