Fun Fridays
Fun activities after school every Friday at the Island Free Library at 1 p.m. A different activity every week like Legos, arts and crafts, board games, and STEM projects.

Study Hall
Tuesdays from 5 to 7 p.m., the Island Free Library will be holding “Power Hours for Scholars.” Staff will be on hand to supervise and facilitate research, monitor group projects, and answer basic comprehension questions. Free pizza!

Lunch Bunch
Lunch Bunch will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 9. See you then!

Free Artist Studio Space

Gay-Straight Alliance Social Hour
The Island Free Library will be hosting a weekly Gay-Straight Alliance Social Hour at 5 p.m. every Friday, all ages are welcome.

Library Holiday Events
Kid’s Store will be open on Friday, Dec. 22, from 12 to 4 p.m. and on Saturday, Dec. 23, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Hurricanes Home Basketball Games
The Girls Varsity has games on Wednesday, Dec. 27, against St. Patrick’s at 11:45 a.m.; Saturday, Dec. 30, against Toll Gate at 12:30 p.m.; Saturday, Jan. 6, against North Providence at 12:30 p.m. The Boys Varsity has games on Friday, Jan. 5, against Grove at 2:30 p.m.; Friday, Jan. 19, against New Testament at 2:30 p.m. All games played at the Block Island School gym.

Common Ground Coffeehouse
Common Ground Coffeehouse on Friday, Dec. 22, at 7 p.m. Classical Guitar Christmas Concert by Ken Totushek of Barrington, who is bringing several of the guitars and other instruments from his extensive collection. There will be no Coffeehouse on Dec. 29.

Community Family Christmas Eve Service
There is a Special Community Family Christmas Eve Service at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 24, at the Harbor Church. The service will feature youth readers of the Christmas story, dance, music, familiar carols (first verse only), and candle-lighting. This is a child-friendly service which will be enjoyed by all ages.

Community Bird Census
There is a Community Bird Census on Tuesday, Dec. 26, at 9 a.m. Meet at Sachem Pond.

Caregiver Group
There is a free Caregiver Support Group every other Tuesday afternoon. The next session will be held on Dec. 26, at 4 p.m. at the Community Center meeting room.

Helping Hands Food Pantry
Every other Wednesday at the Harbor Church. The next Helping Hands Pantry will be Wednesday, Dec. 27, from 1 to 5 p.m.

Film & Soup
There is a Film and Soup showing “The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill” on Thursday, Dec. 28, at 6:30 p.m. at the Island Free Library.

Grief Group
There is a free Grief Support Group meeting being held on Tuesday, Jan. 2, at 4 p.m. at the Community Center meeting room.

BIYC Maritime Scholarship
Applications for the B.I. Yacht Club Maritime Scholarship will be accepted until Feb. 1, 2018. Graduates of the Block Island School who intend to pursue maritime careers, and are currently enrolled in a college undergraduate maritime program, are eligible.
