Fun Fridays 
Fun activities after school every Friday at the Island Free Library at 1 p.m. A different activity every week like Legos, arts and crafts, board games, and STEM projects.

Study Hall 
On Tuesdays from 5 to 7 p.m., the Island Free Library is hosting “Power Hours for Scholars.” Staff will be on hand to supervise and facilitate research, monitor group projects, and answer basic comprehension questions. Free pizza!

Lunch Bunch 
Lunch Bunch will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 9. See you then!

Free Artist Studio Space 
Winter Artist Studio at the Spring Street Gallery. Dec 1, through April 1. Stay creative this winter and connect with other artists. Call Paige (401) 575-8810 or Eileen (401) 466-9725 with questions.

Gay-Straight Alliance Social Hour 
The Island Free Library will be hosting a weekly Gay-Straight Alliance Social Hour at 5 p.m. every Friday, all ages are welcome.

Hurricanes Home Basketball Games 
The Girls Varsity has games on Saturday, Dec. 30, against Toll Gate at 12:30 p.m.; Saturday, Jan. 6, against North Providence at 12:30 p.m.; on Saturday, Jan. 20, against Central at 12:15 p.m.; on Saturday, Jan. 27, against Central Fall at 12:30 p.m. The Boys Varsity has games on Friday, Jan. 5, against Grove at 2:30 p.m.; Friday, Jan. 19, against New Testament at 2:30 p.m.; on Wednesday, Jan. 24, against Oxford at 12:30 p.m. All games played at the Block Island School gym.

Common Ground Coffeehouse 
There will be no Coffeehouse on Friday, Dec. 29.

New Year’s Eve Ball
There is a New Year’s Eve Ball on Sunday, Dec. 31, at 9:30 p.m. at the Yellow Kittens. Entertainment by DJ Libre. Music, Dancing, and a champagne toast at midnight!

Polar Plunge
The Polar Plunge is on Monday, Jan. 1, at noon at the Town Beach.

Grief Group 
There is a free Grief Support Group meeting being held on Tuesday, Jan. 2, at 4 p.m. at the Community Center meeting room.

Blood Drive
There is a Blood Drive on Thursday, Jan. 4,  from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Harbor Church. There is no upper age cut off. Anyone age 17 and older can give.Donors between age 16 and 17 can give with parents permission. Permission forms are available at the school.Bring driver s license or other photo ID. Questions of eligibility call 453-8307. Donors will receive a pound of Dunkin’ Doughnuts coffee as a gift.

Prayer Shawl Ministry
There will be a Prayer Shawl Ministry on Monday, Jan. 8, at 7 p.m. at the Harbor Church.

Caregiver Group 
There is a free Caregiver Support Group every other Tuesday afternoon. The next session will be held on Jan. 9, at 4 p.m. at the Community Center meeting room.

Helping Hands Food Pantry 
Every other Wednesday at the Harbor Church. The next Helping Hands Food Pantry will be Wednesday, Jan. 10, from 1 to 5 p.m.

BIYC Maritime Scholarship 
Applications for the B.I. Yacht Club Maritime Scholarship will be accepted until Feb. 1, 2018. Graduates of the Block Island School who intend to pursue maritime careers, and are currently enrolled in a college undergraduate maritime program, are eligible. Hunter Safety Classes
Classes will be held on Saturday, Feb. 3, from 12 noon and 6 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 4, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Island Free Library. The cost is $35. There needs to be a minimum of 10 people signed up for the instructor to come to the Island. The deadline to sign up is Friday, Jan. 26. Call the Recreation Dept. at 401-466-3223 to sign up.
