Casey Farm ‘Project Chick’

Friday, March 23 at  11 a.m. a Casey Farm educator will present an informational workshop at the Island Free Library, including a rare egg collection and slideshow about heritage chickens and eggs. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions. Directly after the program, the eggs will begin their 21 days of incubation. All are welcome! Project Chick is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

Common Ground Coffeehouse at Harbor Church

This Friday, March 23, at 7:15 p.m., the Common Ground Coffeehouse at Harbor Church will host singer/songwriter Brother Timothy (Timothy Frantzich of Minnesota) for a solo guitar concert, “Songs and Poems of Peace.” Timothy has included the island in his first solo tour of the eastern U.S. He performed here with his brother Paul in 2012, and has sung in 1,000 churches and 1,000 pubs. The Brothers Frantzich have recorded seven CDs and perform with poets Robert Bly and Coleman Barks. A donation of $20 per person is suggested. A light supper will be served at 6:30 p.m., and coffee and dessert before the 7:15 p.m. concert.

Island Free Library events

Fun activities after school every Friday at the Island Free Library at 1 p.m. 

-A different activity every week like Legos, arts and crafts, board games, and STEM projects. 

-Kids’ yoga returns to the library! Fridays, 10 a.m. toddlers; 10:30 a.m. pre-schoolers. Free and fun for all.

-On Tuesdays from 5 to 7 p.m., the Island Free Library is hosting “Power Hours for Scholars.” Staff will be on hand to supervise and facilitate research, monitor group projects, and answer basic comprehension questions. Free pizza!

Film And Soup

The Nature Conservancy and Island Free Library present “Look & See,” a portrait of Wendell Berry, the noted author and environmental activist, on Tuesday, March 27 at the Island Free Library at 6:30 p.m. Bring a bowl or cup for soup and enjoy an all-ages, environmentally-themed movie.

Nature Walks 

On Saturday, March 24 at 9 a.m. gather at Mansion Beach for some early spring beachcombing. This is a guided walk for families (with kids of all ages) and individuals.

Lunch Bunch

Lunch Bunch is every Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at the Community Center.

Easter Bunny in the Park

Saturday, March 31 at 11 a.m. Ball O’Brien Park Playground. Children kindergarten age and under are welcome.

Ecumenical Choir Easter Concert

The concert will be held on Easter Sunday April 1, 9 a.m. at the Harbor Church.

Helping Hands Food Pantry 

Every other Wednesday at the Harbor Church. The next Helping Hands Food Pantry will be Wednesday, April 4, from 1 to 5 p.m.

Block Island High School Reunion

We are happy to announce that we are opening up this year’s reunion to all graduates and anyone who attended Block Island High School including the teachers.
