Common Ground Coffeehouse
Allysen Callery will bring her “ghost folk” guitar sound and her original songs to Common Ground Coffeehouse this Friday May 11, at 7 p.m. Callery plays guitar “finger style,” picking melody and harmony, and has a soft but clear voice reminiscent of the folk revival of the 70s. Complimentary supper and dessert are served at 6:30 p.m. each week.
Poor People’s Pub’s annual MDA benefit, Saturday, May 12, for Mason Miro. PPP will donate 10 percent of the night’s sales to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association. From 5 to 9:30 p.m.

Time to clean out your closets. Accepting donations of good, clean used clothing. Items may be dropped off at the St. Andrew Parish Center. Opening sale is Saturday, June 9. Then every Wednesday starting June 20 throughout the summer.
Shad Bloom Run
The Run starts at the Block Island School off High Street at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 12. Registration costs $25 per person. Sign up in advance and view the course by visiting active.com. If you have questions, call Dave or Cindy at the Recreation Department at (401) 466-3223. The date will be moved to the next day, Sunday, May 13, if the boats don’t run.

On Monday, May 21, at 7:30 p.m., Walter Hilse will present a concert including music by Bach, Vivaldi, Franck, Hilse, and Mulet. Walter is an annual visitor who teaches at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City, and is a freelance composer and performer. Donations are requested.
Trip to Blithewold Mansion and Gardens
Please join the Block Island Gardeners for a private tour through Blithewold Mansion, Gardens and Arboretum in Bristol on Tuesday, May 22. Van transportation to Blithewold and back is provided through the Block Island Recreation Department. Participants are asked to meet on the 8:15 a.m. boat, with return on the 5:00 p.m. boat.
