Common Ground Coffeehouse
Common Ground Coffeehouse will present a concert by Krista Baroni on Friday, June 1 at 7 p.m. A folk-oriented singer-songwriter, Krista takes her inspiration from favorites like Joni Mitchell, Simon and Garfunkel, and Cat Stevens. She also cites influence by contemporary folk artists like Josh Ritter and Patti Griffin. Her second CD, “Alabaster Girl,” set out to reflect the sounds of the Laurel Canyon songwriters from the 70s and won rave reviews. A complimentary supper will be served beginning at 6:30 p.m. Donations for the musician are appreciated.
Lions Club Family Picnic
Sunday, June 3, noon to 2:30 p.m. at Ball O’Brien Park. Everyone welcome! Please come enjoy the beautiful pavilion built by the Lions Club. A lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs, potato chips, corn on the cob, watermelon and lemonade will be offered; $10 per adult and $5 for children over five (Under five are free.) We hope that all of our Lions Club members will be there.
Island Free Library Events
Fun activities after school every Friday at the Island Free Library at 1 p.m. A different activity every week: Legos, arts and crafts, board games, and STEM projects. (The last Fun Friday will be June 15.)
Crazy-as-a-Coot Bird Walk
All are welcome! No one is too young, or too old, or too novice, or too expert, to join this band of happy birders/walkers. Call Kim Gaffett at (401) 595-7055 on Monday before the Tuesday coot walk to learn of the location, which changes based on weather, wind, and hot bird sighting tips. Tuesday, June 5 at 8 a.m.

Time to clean out your closets. Accepting donations of good, clean used clothing. Items may be dropped off at the St. Andrew Parish Center. Opening sale is Saturday, June 9 and then every Wednesday starting June 20 throughout the summer.

Horseshoe Crab Survey And Tagging Programs
To learn about the ecology of horseshoe crabs and Project Limulus, a citizen science program based at Sacred Heart University, join one of these horseshoe crab survey and tagging workshops. No experience is necessary, just be prepared to get your feet wet. Meet at Andy’s Way. Workshops are: Friday, June 1 at 10:30 a.m.; Tuesday, June 12 at 8 a.m.; Thursday, June 14 at 9 p.m.; Saturday, June 16 at 11 a.m.; June 16 at noon in two different locations: Andy’s Way and Cormorant Cove; Tuesday, June 26 at 8 p.m.; Thursday, June 28 at 9 a.m. at Andy’s Way and Cormorant Cove; Saturday, June 30 at 10 a.m.

Gardeners Spring Plant Swap
Please join the Block Island Gardeners for the annual Spring Plant Swap on Saturday, June 9, from 10 a.m. to noon (rain or shine) at the Chasse home off Spring Street. Blues On The Block Golf Tournament
On Monday, June 11 there will be a Golf Tournament benefiting Blues on the Block. The golf tournament will be held at Meadowbrook golf course in Richmond, R.I., with a 10:15 a.m. shotgun start. The format will be foursomes playing best ball. $100 per person includes 18 holes, cart, lunch, raffle tickets, and hospitality after. American Legion Auxiliary Annual Yard Sale

Lions Club Fundraiser
The Lions Club will be hosting a benefit event for Robbie and Irina Murphy on Wednesday, June 27 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Yellow Kittens to help offset the cost of medical expenses. There will raffles, auctions, and entertainment. The public is invited.
The Senior Advisory Committee invites members of the island community (ages 35 and over) to participate in two surveys — one considers issues related to Aging on Block Island. The second is for caregivers — paid and unpaid —about issues related to their work and needs. Both surveys are voluntary, anonymous and held in strictest confidence.
