Common Ground Coffeehouse
Friday, July 20 at 7 p.m, Virginia Dare, island chanteuse, will bring her mix of folk music, standards, and humor to the Common Ground Coffeehouse at Harbor Church. Virginia has a guitar collection and several electronic gizmos to add layers to her singing. All welcome at 6:30 p.m. for a free chili supper, or join us at 7 p.m. for coffee and cookies. No charge, but donations for the musician are appreciated.
The Congregation of the Sons and Daughters of Ruth
The Congregation welcomes Armin Rozencranz as the guest leader for its Friday, July 20 evening service at 8 p.m. at St. Andrew Parish Center on Spring Street. Dr. Rosencranz teaches International Environmental Law at Stanford and Berkeley, and at the Jindal University in India.
The Nature Conservancy & Block Island Conservancy
The TNC and BIC co-sponsor free, guided nature programs on Block Island throughout the year. Together, they offer many different ways to connect to the fields, marshes, and beaches that make the island so exceptional. Check out the advertisement on page 11.

On Friday, July 27 at 11 a.m., Join musician/storyteller Greg Lato for TRY, an inspiring and motivational singalong book about not being afraid or discouraged to take a chance on anything you want to do.
Farmers Markets will be on Wednesdays from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at The Spring House, and Saturdays, from 9 to 11:30 a.m., at Legion Park for the rest of the summer.

Block Island A Capella Festival
The 54th annual “A Capella Festival” is Saturday, July 21 at 8 p.m. St. Andrew Church, Chapel Street, Tickets $25. All net proceeds go to The Mary D. Fund. Purchase tickets at the door, or at Island Bound Bookstore and Red Bird.

Island Cemetery Tour
Thursday, July 26 at 7 p.m. To explore history and mystery in a beautiful setting, don’t miss the Island Cemetery Tour led by Pam Gasner and Karin Sprague, noted Rhode Island stone carver. The tour costs just $15 per person, $10 Society members, children $5.
North Light Fibers is sponsoring a special brioche two-color knitting workshop on Sunday, July 29 from 1 to 4 p.m. Kay Mehls from Newport will lead the workshop, which includes instruction and two skeins of Atlantic yarn (your choice of colors).
