Common Ground events are cancelled for Nov. 30. The movie “Love, Actually” will be shown on Dec. 7.
Library Annual Holiday Open House
The Friends and staff of the Island Free Library invite you to the Annual Holiday Open House at the Library on Friday, Nov. 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. Come and enjoy the food, drink, and festive holiday music.
Tuesdays at 12:30 p.m. at the Community Center. Lunch Bunch will be cancelled on Tuesday, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 for the holidays. It will resume on Jan. 8.
Family Support Group
Saturday, Dec. 1, NAMI BI (National Alliance on Mental Illness, Block Island) Family Support Group meets in the Island Free Library Room C, 10 to 11:30 a.m. Anyone with a close friend or family member who is affected by living with mental illness is welcome. There is no commitment required, just see if the support helps.
Shred It and Forget It
On Saturday, Dec. 1 from 12:30 to 4 p.m. (rain or shine) a free paper shredding and recycling event will take place at Town Hall. Residents can drive up to the secure shredding truck provided by Affordable Shredding and safely dispose of unneeded or sensitive documents that contain personal information.
Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser for Further Afield
Sunday, Dec. 2 the 10th Grade class will be serving up pancakes from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the school cafeteria. Come support the Further Afield program, an annual environmental service and learning trip. This year the class will be volunteering at The Nature Conservancy’s Blowing Rocks Preserve in Florida. $10 for adults and $5 for kids.

Helping Hands Food Pantry
Helping Hands Food Pantry will be Wednesday, Dec. 5 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Harbor Church.
Christmas Piano Recital
Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. Presented by the students of Carrie Todd at the St. Andrew Parish Center. All are welcome to hear the children play favorite Christmas classics.
Saturday, Dec. 8 at 5 p.m., poet Alice Feeley will read from and discuss her new book of poetry, “Tracing Thin Places,” at The Island Bound Bookstore. On Dec. 14 at 5 p.m., author Lars Trodson will be reading from his newly published short story, “The Christmas Traveler.”
