Common Ground Events On Friday Nights

It’s Oscar Month at Harbor Church. Come see three Academy Award-winning historical biographies.

 - March 8: “At Eternity’s Gate.” William Dafoe’s Academy Award-nominated
portrayal of painter Vincent van Gogh.

 - March 15 - Singer-songwriter Ed McGuirl in concert. Celebrate St. Patrick’s
Day with live music.

 - March 22: “The Favourite” Lady Sarah governs 18th century England for a frail
Queen Anne. Actor Olivia Colman won the Academy Award for Best Actress
for her role as Queen Anne.

 - March 29: Game night.

The events start at 6:30 p.m. with dinner, all at the Harbor Church.

Island Free Library

- Friday, March 8 at 5 p.m. Library Underground, teen lounge, movies, snacks and more.

- Saturday, March 9 at 1 p.m. Kid’s movie matinee.

- Wednesday, March 13 at 6 p.m. 641 Cookbook Club, celebrate childhood by bringing a favorite childhood dish.

Pickle Ball

Ecumenical Choir Practice

Ecumenical Choir practice for the Easter Concert will be held every Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Harbor Church between now and Easter, which is Sunday, April 21.

Tuesdays at 12:30 p.m. at the Community Center.

Block Island Arts and Crafts Guild Scholarship

The Block Island Arts and Crafts Guild is accepting applications for the annual art scholarship awards. Graduating high school seniors may be eligible. The applications with portfolio should be submitted by May 3, 2019 to either Teri McCombe (401-742-5501) or art teacher Lisa Robb (401-466-5600). Scholarship criteria and applications are available in the Block Island School guidance office.

Peanut Butter Drive

Washington Trust will be holding its annual Peanut Butter Drive throughout the month of March. Residents are asked to bring in non-perishable food items that will be donated to the Helping Hands Food Pantry.

Helping Hands Food Pantry

The next Helping Hands Food Pantry will be Wednesday, March 13 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Harbor Church.

St. Patrick’s Day Dinner

The Block Island Lions Club is hosting its annual St Patrick’s Day Dinner on Saturday, March 16 from noon to 5 p.m. at Yellow Kittens. $18 adult ticket, $12 children, includes corned beef and cabbage, and all the fixings. Proceeds benefit the Meeting Street School.
