St. Andrew Ladies Guild St. Patrick’s Day Brunch

St. Patrick’s Day Dinner

The Block Island Lions Club is hosting its annual St Patrick’s Day Dinner on Saturday, March 16 from noon to 4 p.m. at Yellow Kittens. $18 adult ticket, $12 children, includes corned beef and cabbage, and all the fixings. Proceeds benefit the Meeting Street School.

Common Ground Events On Friday Nights

 - March 15 - Singer-songwriter Ed McGuirl in concert. Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with live music.

 - March 22: “The Favourite.” Lady Sarah governs 18th century England for a frail  Queen Anne. Olivia Colman won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role as Queen Anne.

 - March 29: Game night.

The events start at 6:30 p.m. with dinner, all at the Harbor Church.

Pickle Ball

Ecumenical Choir Practice

Ecumenical Choir practice for the Easter Concert will be held every Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Harbor Church between now and Easter, which is Sunday, April 21.

Block Island Arts and Crafts Guild Scholarship

The Block Island Arts and Crafts Guild is accepting applications for the annual art scholarship awards. Graduating high school seniors may be eligible. The applications with portfolio should be submitted by May 3, 2019 to either Teri McCombe (401-742-5501) or art teacher Lisa Robb (401-466-5600). Scholarship criteria and applications are available in the Block Island School guidance office.

Peanut Butter Drive

Washington Trust will be holding its annual Peanut Butter Drive throughout the month of March. Residents are asked to bring in non-perishable food items that will be donated to the Helping Hands Food Pantry.

The next Helping Hands Food Pantry will be held on Wednesday, March 27 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Harbor Church.

BIS Chili Fest Cook-off

Got a great chili recipe? Take the chili challenge. On Thursday, April 4, submit a large crock-pot’s worth of chili to the Block Island School Ceramics Department’s Chili Fest and you could win! Don’t have a good recipe but love chili? Come to our chili-fest and sample the goods. Buy a handmade bowl and fill it with a variety of chili (corn bread and soft drink included) and vote for your favorite.
