Island Free Library Events

-Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 11 a.m. Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first humans landing on the moon. Ages 5 to 12.

- Thursday, August 8 at 11 a.m. Pop-Up Story Time is at Block Island Historical Society.

-Friday, August 9 at 11 a.m. Dave Marchetti’s Animal Experience. Learn about snakes and other reptile friends up close and personal.

Dodge Street Nightmarket

Join Dodge Street businesses Thursday evenings for shopping and entertainment offerings geared toward all ages and families. Games, stories, and workshops, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Open every Wednesday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Andrew Parish Center, Spring Street, lower level and barn. Good clean used clothing. Accepting donations throughout the summer at the drop-off box at the Parish Center. Please no household items.

NAMI BI Family Support Group

Saturday, Aug. 3 in the Island Free Library Room C, from 10 to 11.30 a.m. Anyone with a close friend or family member who is affected by living with mental illness is welcome. No commitment required, just see if the support helps.

Farmers Market

Farmers Markets will be on Wednesdays, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at The Spring House and Saturdays from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Legion Park throughout the summer.

Arts and Crafts Guild Fair

Sunday, August 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. On the Historical Society lawn.

5k Family Fun Run/Walk

The National Alliance on Mental Illness-B.I. and the Block Island Medical Center are sponsoring a beach run or walk on Sunday, Aug. 4 at the Beach Pavilion. Register in advance at RunSignup.com or the day of the race. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m., race starts at 10:30 a.m. Pets welcome. 

ConserFest

Sunday, Aug. 4 at The Narragansett Inn from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Mary D. Ball

The 25th annual Mary D. Ball will be held at The Sullivan House on Sunday, Aug. 4 at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the door. It’s a family friendly event, put your dancing shoes on and come to the ball.

“Jaws” On The Water

Monday, Aug. 5 at the Block Island Club. “Jaws” will be shown. Watch from the water. Movie starts at 8:45 p.m. All proceeds go to the Block Island Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.

Walk to End Alzheimer’s
