The Nature Conservancy and B.I. Conservancy
The TNC and BIC co-sponsor free, guided nature programs throughout the year. Together, they offer many different ways to connect to the fields, marshes, and beaches that make the island so exceptional. Check out the advertisement on page 11.

TED Talk
Saturday, Aug. 24 at the Island Free Library from 10 to 11 a.m., NAMI BI invites everyone to watch a TED Talk: “Kate Raworth: A Healthy Economy Should be Designed to Thrive, not Grow” — an alternative way of describing what a good economy should look like and its impact on humanity and the environment. American Legion Meeting
American Legion Merrill Slate Post 36 will have its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, Aug. 29 at Legion Hall on West Side Road. A 5 p.m. social hour will be followed by our regular meeting at 6. Gardeners’ Edibles Luncheon
The Block Island Gardeners’ “Edibles from the Garden” is a pot-luck luncheon and speaker presentation. Noon on Thursday, Sept. 5 at The Narragansett. Bring a favorite dish or dessert containing an ingredient from the garden (or sea). URI Master Gardener Roger Jadosz will speak on outsmarting invasives, and creating a backyard habitat.
