Movie and a Meal Continues at Harbor Church

A series of inspiring true-life adventures every Friday night. Dinner at 6:30 p.m. and film at 7 p.m.

Nov. 8 - “Homeward Bound.” The incredible journey of three pets who are lost in the Canadian wilderness and find their way back home.

Senior Ride Service Up and Running

The Senior Advisory Committee has re-started the Senior Ride Service for island seniors, persons with special needs, and caregivers without transportation. The cost is $3 per round trip. Pickleball

Every Sunday 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Block Island school gymnasium. All levels. Instructions and equipment provided.

Lunch Bunch Every Tuesday

Block Island Ecumenical Choir

Tuesdays at 7 p.m. at the Harbor Church. Rehearsals for the fall concert. All who love to sing are welcome to join.

Manny Martin from the American Sign Language Academy with be making monthly visits to the Island Free Library this winter to teach our community ASL. The first round of classes will be on Saturday, Nov. 16 and Sunday, Nov. 17. No experience necessary. Classes are free. Please contact sueb3@verizon.net for details and to sign up. 

Close-up Fundraiser

Fundraiser for the Block Island 11th and 12th grade students’ Close-Up Trip to Washington D.C. Dinner includes choice of either pork or tofu, Japanese rice, sautéed broccoli, cabbage and Mochi balls for dessert. Pick-up is between 5 and 6:30 p.m. at the 1661 Inn on Monday, Nov. 18. All dinners must be pre-ordered by Wednesday, Nov. 13. The next Helping Hands Food Pantry will be Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Harbor Church.

Shopping Stroll

The annual Holiday Shopping Stroll is Friday, Nov. 29 to Sunday, Dec. 1, at various locations around town. 

Winter Market

Saturday, Nov. 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The library will be hosting its annual Indoor Market. Vendors include craftspeople, artists and bakers.

Further Afield Fundraiser

There will a Lunch Café during the Stroll.  Both Friday, Nov. 29 and Saturday Nov. 30, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Yellow Kittens. The Block Island School 10th Grade class will be serving up soup, grilled cheese and more.  

Holiday Open House

Friday, Nov. 29 from 4 to 6 p.m. at The 1661 Inn on Spring St. The Nature Conservancy is hosting an Open House to give thanks to the island community for supporting our program.

James Stover Exploration Series: Night Walk

Friday, Nov. 29 at 8 p.m. Meet at second bluffs on Mohegan Trail. Bring a flashlight and dress warmly.

Annual Bo Gempp Shellfish Fundraiser

Sunday, Nov. 17 at 2 p.m.  Old Island Pub, Seafood dishes, oysters, etc. $25 donation per person.

Block Island Turkey Trot In Memory of Michael Coords

Get ready to run or walk off your Thanksgiving Feast with the annual 5K Turkey Trot on Saturday, Nov. 30. The race kicks off at noon at the Fred Benson Town Beach. Register early to reserve your race t-shirt. Online registration is available at active.com.
