B.I. Arts and Crafts Guild Scholarship
The Block Island Arts and Crafts Guild is accepting applications for the
annual art scholarship awards. Graduating high school seniors may be eligible for $1,000 and college students pursuing the arts may be eligible
for $750. Both are nonrenewable awards. The application, with portfolio,
should be submitted by the deadline May 3, 2021 to either Teri McCombe
(401-742-5501) or art teacher Lisa Robb (401-466-5600). Scholarship criteria and applications are available in the B.I. School guidance office.

Island Free Library Programs
The Island Free Library invites all to stay local and enjoy the winter on-island.
Library Hours: The Library is now open for in-person browsing.
Tuesdays 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.; Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 10 a.m. - 5
p.m.; Saturdays 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Healthy Kids Nature Show & Tell Naturalist Kim Gaffett meets up on
Zoom at 10:30 a.m. to explore the outdoors and inspect curious finds.
Saturdays:
Kid Yoga at 11:00 a.m. This YouTube yoga program is geared for kids but
every body is welcome.
Everyday:
Frankenstein Tea A short story program for adult listeners on YouTube
at 3 p.m.
Take & Make Craft Kits Available for pick-up. Something for everyone,
from preschool to adult!

Helping Hands Food Pantry
The Helping Hands Food Pantry will be open for distribution of food on
Wednesday, March 10, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Harbor Church. Please wear
your mask and bring your reusable shopping bags. (Rain or snow date will
be the next day, Thursday.) The next date will be Wed. March 24.

Not-the-Polar Bear Plunge
There was no Block Island Polar Bear Plunge this year. Instead, the Block
Island Leo Lions Club asks you to take the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in
memory of John Henry Tripler. Donations in in John Henry’s name may
be sent to: ALS Assoc. of R.I., 2374 Post Road, Suite 103, Warwick, RI
02886-2270.

Wake Up Well Podcast
Block Island’s community podcast, Wake Up Well, launches its second
season and continues to ask questions about personal well-being and our
collective responsibility and power to keep the island well. You can listen

Zoom on Nature with Coffee & Kim
New series for 2021 with two zooms a month! Kim Gaffett, The Nature
Conservancy’s Naturalist on Block Island, will be hosting two Zoom calls a
