Library Hours: The Library is now open for in-person browsing. Tuesdays 11 a.m.- 7 p.m.; Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Saturdays 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Tuesdays:
Music Time: With Ms. Carrie at 11 a.m. on Facebook.
Wednesdays:

Outdoor Storytime: With Ms. Morgan at 10:30 a.m. Pre-registration is required and all safety protocols will be followed.
Zoom Book Group:  “Circe” by Madeline Miller, at 2 p.m. Books available at the library. All readers welcome.

2021 Mah Jongg: Come join us outdoors to play a game or two of Mah Jongg. 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. 2021 Mah Jongg cards are available. (Canceled if raining.)

Take & Make Craft Kits. Available for pick-up. Something for everyone, from preschool to adult!

Bloomsday Garden Party

Please join the staff of the Island Free Library for a celebration of Irish writer James Joyce and his novel “Ulysses” on Wednesday, June 16 from 4 to 6 p.m. All readers and listeners are welcome. This event will be outside on the library’s front patio and masks are encouraged.

Free pH soil testing
The URI Master Gardener program is now offering free pH soil testing on Block Island. Take a soil sample, then place it in the drop-off box at the Island Free Library during business hours. Wake Up Well Podcast
Block Island’s community podcast, Wake Up Well, launches its second season and continues to ask questions about personal well-being and our collective responsibility and power to keep the island well. Living with Loss and Caretakers Support Group
Block Island’s Living with Loss Support Group and Caregivers Support Group will be meeting in person at the Block Island Community Center beginning June 15. Living with Loss will begin at 3 p.m. and Caretakers Support will begin at 4 p.m. Meetings are free of charge and will be held every other week. Zoom on Nature with Coffee & Kim
New series for 2021 with two zooms a month! Kim Gaffett, The Nature Conservancy’s Naturalist on Block Island, will be hosting two Zoom calls a month focusing on the island’s unique ecosystems, flora and fauna. Soundwaves

Soundwaves returns to the Fred Benson town Beach this summer with a showing of the 2000 movie “Almost Famous” (Rated R) on June 22 at sunset. Experimental music and art one hour before showtime. Admission is free. Donations encouraged.

Opening sale - Saturday, June 12, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. On the grounds of St. Andrew Parish Center, Spring Street. Then every Wednesday (rain date Thursdays) starting June 16, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through August. Sorry, no more donations can be accepted until July 1.

Block Island Farmers Market

the 2021 Farmers Market season begins Saturday, June 12 at Legion Park. Markets will be held every Saturday and Wednesday from 9 to 11:30 A.M. Don’t forget to bring your kitchen scraps for composting. Acceptable composting materials include fruit and vegetable scraps and peelings, coffee grounds, and eggshells.
