The Island Free Library invites everyone to participate in the programs listed below.

Library Hours: The Library is now open for in-person browsing. Tuesdays 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.; Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Saturdays 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Music Time: With Ms. Carrie at 11 a.m. on Facebook.
Outdoor Storytime: With Ms. Morgan at 10:30 a.m. Pre-registration is required and all safety protocols will be followed.
Zoom Book Group: “Circe” by Madeline Miller at 2 p.m. Books available at the library. All readers welcome.

2021 Summer Reading Program: “Tails and tales” begins. Sign up at Islandfreelibrary.beanstack.org. Kids, teens and adults welcome.
2021 Mah Jongg: Come join us outdoors to play a game or two of Mah Jongg. 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. 2021 Mah Jongg cards are available. (Cancelled if raining.)
Stitch Together: Bring your projects (knitting, crochet, weaving and embroidery) and join us from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on our front patio. (No Stitch Together on rainy days.)
Take & Make Craft Kits. Available for pick-up. Something for everyone, from pre-school to adult!
Free pH soil testing
The URI Master Gardener program is now offering free pH soil testing on Block Island. Take a soil sample, then place it in the drop-off box at the Island Free Library during business hours. Directions are available at web.uri.edu/mastergardener/soil-testing-service. Questions? Call Maude Chasse at (203) 233-4889. This is an ongoing program.
Wake Up Well Podcast
Block Island’s community podcast, Wake Up Well, launches its second season and continues to ask questions about personal well-being and our collective responsibility and power to keep the island well. Living with Loss Support Group and Caretakers Support Group
Block Island’s Living with Loss Support Group and Caregivers Support Group will be meeting in person at the Community Center beginning June 15. Living with Loss will begin at 3 p.m., and Caretakers Support will begin at 4 p.m. Meetings are free of charge and will be held every other week. International Student Center for Summer Workers at Harbor Church
Summer student workers are welcome on Tuesdays for a free dinner from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and to use the recreation center from 6 to 10 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays. American student workers are welcome to come for cultural exchanges with students from all over the world. Zoom on Nature with Coffee & Kim
New series for 2021 with two zooms a month! Kim Gaffett, The Nature Conservancy’s Naturalist on Block Island, will be hosting two Zoom calls a month focusing on the island’s unique ecosystems, flora and fauna. Soundwaves returns to the Fred Benson Town Beach this summer with a showing of the 2000 movie “Almost Famous” (Rated R) on June 22 at sunset. Experimental music and art one hour before showtime. Admission is free. Donations encouraged.

“Bound by Blue” A personal history of Block Island. Film, reading and book signing with Edie Blane. June 24, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Block Island Lions Club Golf Tournament
The annual July tournament will be held on Monday, July 12, at the Richmond Country Club. It is open to all who wish to participate. Join as a single player or submit a team. $110 per player. Price includes 18 holes of golf, boxed lunch and one drink ticket at the clubhouse. The group departs on the 8:15 a.m. ferry. Sale of gently used clothing, shoes, and bags. Every Wednesday (rain date Thursdays) on the grounds of St. Andrew Parish Center, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sorry, no more donations can be accepted until July 1.
Block Island Farmers Market
The 2021 Farmers Market season at Legion Park has begun! Markets will be held every Saturday and Wednesday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Don’t forget to bring your kitchen scraps for composting. Acceptable composting materials include fruit and vegetable scraps and peelings, coffee grounds, and eggshells.
