The Island Free Library invites everyone to participate in the programs listed below.

Library Hours: The Library will remain open for in-person browsing. Tuesdays 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.; Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Saturdays 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Please remember face masks are required while visiting the library.

Tuesdays: 10:30 a.m. Music Time with Ms. Carrie, Ages 6 months to 5 years old. Join us on Facebook or in person. - No class on June 14.
Wednesdays: 10:30 a.m. Lapsit Story Time for ages 0 to 2. Stories, songs, and fingerplays at the library with Ms. Morgan.
Thursdays: 10:30 a.m. Preschool Storytime for ages 3 to 5 years with Ms. Morgan. Read, sing, dance and play! Join us on Facebook or in person.

Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. Mah Jongg. In addition, we will play on Saturdays at 10 a.m. Come play a game or two. If you don’t know how to play, we will teach you. All are welcome to participate.
Tuesdays: Clase de ingles/English Language Class in-person at the library. La clase de ingles sera en la biblioteca hoy. Beginner class: 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Intermediate/advanced: 6:40 to 7:50. Individual tutoring is available weekdays.
Tuesdays, June 14, and 21 at 7 p.m.: Book discussion of “Drawdown, The Most Comprehensive Plan Ever Proposed to Reverse Global Warming,” with Socha Cohen.
Wednesday, June 15 at 2 p.m. Book Group via Zoom. Rebecca Solnit’s “Recollections of My Nonexistance.” Stop by the library to pick up a copy of the book.
Thursdays: 8:30 a.m. Movement for Life. Join Tom Hobin on the library’s front lawn for this easy-to-follow Tai Chi based movement.
Thursdays, 5 to 6 p.m. DEAR - Drop Everything and Read. Come to the library and join others for an hour of silent reading. No other library services will be available and no chitchatting - just come and read.
Saturdays at 10 a.m.: Mah Jongg. Come play a game or two. If you don’t know how to play, we will teach you. All are welcome to participate. Mah Jongg will be offered twice weekly starting in June.
Saturdays 1 p.m. Stitch Together: Bring your projects (knitting, crochet, weaving, or embroidering) for crafting and conversations. All ages and skill levels welcome – bring your problems and questions - help is available!
Saturday, June 11 at 1 p.m., join the Stitch Together Group for “World Knit in Public Day” outside on the patio.
Save the Date: June 22 the “Read Beyond the Beaten Path” Summer Reading Program kicks off. Open to kids, teens, and adults.
Island Free Library Book Mobile: Not feeling well or can’t get out of the house? The IFL Book Mobile will bring books, movies, or magazines to you. Please call Judy at (401) 466-3233 and she can bring your items to you.

Caretakers Support Group: The Caregivers Support Group will be meeting in person at the Community Center on Thursday, June 16, at 4 p.m.. Meetings are free of charge and will be held every other week. Contact Kerri Gaffett at kblockisland@aol.com for questions.

Re-Register for Summer Senior Ride Service
Open to full-time and seasonal island seniors (60 and over) and persons with special needs as well as caretakers without transportation. Please limit trips to two to three per week. The Nature Conservancy and Block Island Conservancy present:
Strawberry Full Moon: June 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Ocean View Pavilion. The Nature Conservancy welcomes everyone to come enjoy the sunset and build your own strawberry shortcake.

Gardeners’ Spring Plant Swap: Everyone is invited to the Block Island Gardeners’ Spring Plant Swap on Saturday, June 11, from 10 a.m. to noon (rain or shine) on the porch of the Block Island Historical Society. Share gardening ideas and pick up some plants for your garden or drop off any unwanted extras you have. Don’t worry if you don’t have plants to share - there are always plenty of extras. For

Not New Boutique: The Not New Boutique will be accepting donations of good, clean used clothing, shoes, pocketbooks, hats and belts starting on May 10. Items may be dropped off at St. Andrew Parish Center on Spring Street at the lower level box. Opening sale on Saturday, June 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the grounds of the Parish Center, then every Wednesday (rain date Thursdays) through June, July and August.

The International Student Center at Harbor Church will open for the summer on June 21 with a kick-off dinner from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. All are welcome.
The recreation room will be open weekly on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 9 p.m. All summer student workers are welcome.

St. Ann’s Summer Festival Save the date! Saturday, June 25 (rain date June 26) Summer Festival with tag sale, silent auction, craft fair, and food. Donations are now being accepted for the tag sale on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call (401) 466-5471 for further information.

Frederick J. Benson Memorial Scholarship Applications are ready for pickup or email for the 2022-23 academic year. All applicants must have completed at least one full year of post-secondary studies.
